Softball to Open Home PL Series with Colgate Friday Afternoon

BOSTON – Riding a 19-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will welcome Patriot League foe Colgate to campus for a three-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m. A doubleheader is set for Saturday at 12 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Following sweeps over Lafayette, Bucknell and Holy Cross, the Terriers are currently tied for first in the Patriot League standings at 9-0 with the last remaining nine games coming against 2022 PL tournament participants - Colgate, Army West Point and Lehigh.
  • BU's 19-game win streak is the second longest in program history behind last year's 27-game win streak. The Terriers' 21 shutouts are also second most, just one shy of tying the record set back in 1996.
  • The Terriers rank third nationally with a .982 fielding percentage, seventh in ERA (1.54) and 16th in batting average (.319).
  • Junior Kayla Roncin is batting a team-high .452 with 71 hits, third most nationally and tied-for-fifth in the program record book with last year's record-breaking 81-hit performance within striking distance. She owns a team-high 20 extra-base hits with a team-high 39 RBIs and 43 runs scored.
  • Senior Caitlin Coker (.357) leads the NCAA at nine triples and ranks fifth all-time at BU with 16 triples, sixth in runs (146) and sixth in doubles (33). She's scored a team-high 44 runs and has added 36 RBIs alongside 19 stolen bases.
  • Junior Lauren Keleher (.380), graduate student Emily Gant (.352) and sophomore Tyesha Williams (.308) are all hitting over .300 with junior Lauren Nett close behind at .293.
  • In the circle, senior Allison Boaz (18-4, 1.48 ERA) ranks eighth all-time at BU with 45 wins and 17 shutouts. She's posting 118 strikeouts in 128.0 innings.
  • Freshman Kasey Ricard (16-2, 1.58 ERA) has posted 161 strikeouts in 119.1 innings while adding four saves, while senior Lizzy Avery (5-1, 1.63 ERA) has tallied 29 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.
  • Overall, BU is holding opponents to .196 batting average with a 52-19 advantage in doubles and 58-11 lead in stolen bases alongside a 28-3 advantage in triples.
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders most recently earned a DH split at Siena with a 9-1 (6) win and 6-0 loss following an 0-3 record against Lehigh that included a 4-2 defeat and 10-7 10-inning contest.
  • Colgate owns an impressive 4-3 win against Minnesota (current RPI 37) along with a 3-1 victory over Loyola Marymount (RPI 86). THe Raiders came up just short to Marshall (RPI 58), 5-4.
  • Adrienne Nardone is batting a team-high .304 with a Patriot League-high seven homers and 28 RBIs, while Kara Fusco is batting .294 with five homers and 30 RBIs.
  • In the circle, Bailey Misken (8-10, 4.01 ERA) has tallied 90 strikeouts in 124.0 innings, while Alexa Acker (5-10, 4.94 ERA) owns 35 strikeouts in 68.0 innings. Both pitchers have earned one shutout apiece with Misken adding a save.
  • Overall, Colgate is batting .240 while holding opponents to .291 with a 17-15 edge in homers. Opponents own a 39-29 lead in stolen bases, but Colgate's catcher Quinn Livesay ranks 11th nationally at throwing 13 runners out.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU has won 26 of the 27 all-time meetings with a 15-0 mark at home.
  • Four of the last 10 meetings have been decided by one run apiece. 
  • In the 2022 Patriot League tournament opener, the Terriers rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 3-2 victory.
