The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue its 10th season on Saturday when the Terriers host Lehigh in the first game of the Lax-A-Palooza doubleheader at Nickerson Field. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 12 p.m., with the game to be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
Fans will be able to enjoy free food trucks (while supplies last), a 21+ cash bar, games, prizes, and more. As part of Earth Day 365 with BU's Office of Sustainability, fans that bring their own reusable water bottle to the game can be entered to win a prize. Following the Terriers' tilt against Lehigh, the women's lacrosse team will host Bucknell at 4 p.m.
In addition, BU will honor its 13-member senior class prior to Saturday's game.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament with a 16-9 win over then-No. 19/20 Loyola Maryland last Saturday at Nickerson.
- If BU wins on Saturday, the Terriers will remain in contention for the top seed in the conference playoffs and travel to Army West Point next Friday with the regular-season title on the line.
- If the Terriers win and Army defeats Navy on Saturday night, BU will finish no lower than second, which guarantees a bye into the PL semifinals.
The Terriers are 4-0 at home this season and have won 12Â of their last 14 home games dating back to the start of the 2022 season.
- Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week Timmy Ley paced the BU offense with six points (2g, 4a).
- Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week Patrick Morrison recorded two caused turnovers and four ground balls; he also held Loyola's Davis Lindsey to just two assists and helped force him into five turnovers.
- Senior Vince D'Alto scored four goals against the Greyhounds and leads BU in both goals (36) and points (54) entering this weekend.
- Senior Louis Perfetto produced three of his team-high 27 assists against Loyola.
- Ley is tied for sixth among active Division I players in both goals (144)Â and points (206).
- The Terriers are third in the nation with 11.27Â caused turnovers per game.
- Senior LSM Roy Meyer is tied for 13th in the country with 1.91Â caused turnovers per game.
- BU is fourth in the NCAA and first in the Patriot League in assists per game, averaging 9.18Â helpers.
- Perfetto is 11th in the nation in assists per game (2.45).
- BU is third in the country and first in the Patriot League on EMOs, succeeding on 58.1 percent of its man-up chances.
- The Terriers enter the weekend third in the NCAA on the ride with an opponent clear percentage of .779, with Patriot League foes successful on just 77.0% of their clearing attempts.
HISTORY WITH LEHIGH
- BU is 3-7 all-time against Lehigh, with two of those wins coming last year.
- Both of those triumphs were in dramatic fashion, as BU clinched the regular-season title with a last-second goal in Bethlehem on April 23 before securing an OT win at Nickerson Field in the Patriot League semifinals.
- Last season's win at Lehigh was the Terriers' first regular-season victory over the Mountain Hawks.
- The last five games between these two schools have been decided by a combined six goals, including four one-goal contests.
- Six of the 10 total meetings have been one-goal games and all but two have been decided by three goals or fewer.
SCOUTING THEÂ MOUNTAIN HAWKS
- Lehigh is receiving votes in both national polls and enters Saturday with an identical 8-3 overall record and 5-1 mark in PL play.
- The Mountain Hawks have won three straight games, including a 15-8 home win over Colgate last Saturday.
- Junior Scott Cole leads Lehigh in both goals (35) and points (58) while senior Christian Mule' is second in points (57) thanks to 25 goals and a team-best 32 assists.
- Fifth-year faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger leads the nation with a .660 win percentage at the X and is second in the NCAA with 11.55 ground balls per game.
- Freshman close defender Richard Checo leads the country with 43 caused turnovers and is second on the squad with 52 ground balls.
- Reigning PL Goalkeeper of the Week Nick Pecora has started 10 of his 11 total appearances, posting a .535 save percentage and a 11.13 goals-against average.
