BOSTON – Riding an eight-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will host Lafayette in a Patriot League weekend series starting Saturday at 12 p.m. Following the doubleheader, the teams will meet a third time on Sunday at 12 p.m. as well.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU ranks in the top 20 nationally in nine different categories, including No. 2 in triples per game (.60), No. 2 in shutouts (18), No. 5 in fielding percentage (.981), and 16th in batting average (.320).
- Junior and reigning PL Player of the Year Kayla Roncin ranks No. 5 at 55 hits and No. 9 at .466 batting average while leading the Terriers at five homers and 31 RBIs.
- Classmate Lauren Keleher ranks seventh all-time in the program record book at 75 career walks and is currently tied with Roncin with a .496 on-base percentage. She's batting .393 with 11 doubles and four triples.
- Senior Caitlin Coker (.342) and graduate student Emily Gant (.337) are the other two Terriers above .300 with sophomore Tyesha Williams close behind at .296. Junior Kate Pryor has started nine games and is hitting .372 with four of her 16 hits going for triples.
- In the circle, the Terriers have three active pitchers with a no-hitter after freshman Kasey Ricard (11-2, 1.71 ERA) accomplished the feat Monday at Holy Cross. Ricard owns 115 strikeouts in 81.2 innings, while senior Allison Boaz (13-4, 1.58 ERA) has posted 94 strikeouts in 97.2 innings.
- Senior Lizzy Avery (4-1, 1.46 ERA) owns a solo shutout and has been part of five combined shutouts with 25 strikeouts in 33.2 innings.
- Overall, BU is holding opponents to .200 and owns notable advantages in doubles (43-15), triples (21-2) and stolen bases (38-8).
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
- The Leopards own a 5-4 win over Youngstown State alongside wins over Mount St. Mary's (4-2), Army (5-4) and Drexel (6-3) with a 1-1 tie against Iona.
- Lafayette opened league play losing three games to Lehigh by a combined five runs, including a 5-4 decision.
- Marisa Powell is batting a team-high .327 with Kylee Sweet close behind at .319 alongside a team-high nine RBIs.
- Three Leopards own at least seven starts in the circle. Kailee Sawai (1-9, 5.56 ERA), Morrigan Gardiner (1-5, 4.82 ERA) and Jacqueline Cal (2-6, 4.79 ERA) have combined for 99 strikeouts in 168 innings.
- Lafayette is batting .231 while opponents are hitting .341 with a 46-15 advantage in stolen bases and 26-6 lead in homers.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 25-0 all-time with a 13-0 home mark.
- The last seven results have been decided via run-rule.
- BU has allowed just eight combined runs over the last 18 contests.
