HAMILTON, N.Y. – With the help of a 11-6 advantage in made 3-pointers, Colgate defeated the Boston University men's basketball team, 75-59, on Saturday afternoon at Cotterell Court.
The Terriers (7-12, 2-4 PL) owned a 33-25 advantage late in the first half but were unable to overcome a 19-0 run by the defending Patriot League champion Raiders (11-8, 5-1 PL) in the loss. Colgate shot 53.3 percent in the second half and held BU to 33.3 FG% while posting an 18-9 advantage in made free throws.

Ethan Okwuosa led BU with a season-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while sophomore
Nico Nobili earned 12 points. Senior
Miles Brewster was the third Terrier in double figures at 10 points, and classmate Anthony Moralies tallied eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
Ryan Moffatt totaled a game-high 23 points for the Raiders behind six 3-pointers, while Brady Cummins added a pair of treys en route to 11 points. Braeden Smith tallied seven points, eight assists and six rebounds alongside two steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After freshman Kyrone Alexander hit a short jumper to open the game, three different Raiders scored from behind the arc to prompt a BU timeout with a 9-2 lead.
- Sophomore Otto Landrum came out of the timeout finding Nobili for a 3-pointer and then scored one of his own to cut the deficit to one.
- The teams traded blows over the next nine minutes with Jeff Woodward hitting a free throw to extend Colgate's lead to 22-17 at 7:38.
- BU then went on an 11-0 run during the next three minutes with Okwuosa tallying nine points.
- After Smith netted a 3-pointer, Nobili netted his second, and freshman Matai Baptiste added a jumper to grab a 33-25 advantage at 59 seconds.
- The Terriers though would go scoreless for a six-minute stretch, as the Raiders went on a 19-0 run helped by Moffatt's four 3-pointers.
- Facing a 44-33 deficit, the Terriers later pulled within six on three different occasions at 12:30 (46-40), 10:47 (49-43) and 8:40 (51-45), respectively, but would never get any closer.
- Baptiste's putback at 4:41 cut the deficit to 60-53 before Colgate went on a 9-2 spurt over the next two minutes to pull away.
GAME NOTES
- Okwuosa's 16 points were the most he scored since posting 23 at Franklin Pierce on Feb. 7, 2023, while at Southern New Hampshire.
- Morales' five assists topped his previous high of four set three times in previous seasons.
- The Terriers went 1-of-13 in 3-point territory during the second half after shooting 5-of-15 during the first.
- Colgate won its fourth straight in the series and sixth straight at home to move ahead in the all-time series, 33-30.
