BOSTON – Looking to carry momentum from a 62-48 victory at Patriot League leader Lafayette, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Holy Cross Monday night in a Turnpike Trophy clash with the CBS Sports Network broadcast set for a 7 p.m. start.

The Terrier and Crusader women will start off the doubleheader at 4 p.m., also on CBS SN. Winner of all seven Turnpike Trophy all-sports competitions between the two schools, BU currently owns a 5-3 advantage in the 2023-24 edition.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • In Saturday's win against the previously unbeaten Leopards (now 7-1 PL), BU prevented an opponent from having a double-digit scorer for the first time since a 91-54 win over Western New England on Nov. 22, 2016. It was the fifth time overall under head coach Joe Jones that the Terriers accomplished the feat, last holding a Division I opponent to only single-digit scorers in a 55-32 win over Navy on Jan. 7, 2014.
  • Sophomore Otto Landrum tallied a career-high 26 points in the victory with the help of a personal-best three 3-pointers while adding a game-high nine rebounds. He currently ranks third on the team at 8.6 ppg alongside a team-high 6.2 rpg.
  • Both Landrum and classmate Nico Nobili (6.9 ppg) posted career bests in blocks with three apiece, as Landrum extended his team lead to 15 blocks.
  • Senior captain Miles Brewster dished out five assists for the sixth time this season to lead BU at 3.3 apg. He also leads BU at 9.5 ppg and 1.5 spg.
  • Making his first two career starts this past week, freshman Matai Baptiste (5.2 ppg, 2.8 rpg) averaged 7.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg. His classmate, Kyrone Alexander (7.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg) averaged 9.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg.
  • The Terriers are 6-1 this season when finishing ahead in made free throws.
  • BU is 4-8 on the road this season with a 2-2 conference mark. Saturday's victory marked the first time in those four contests that the team leading at the half won in the end.
  • Overall, BU is averaging 63.7 ppg and 39.9 FG% while holding opponents to 65.4 ppg and 41.9 FG%.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
  • Coming off a 78-72 loss to Lehigh, the Crusaders are 2-6 at home with wins over Loyola Maryland (86-78) and Elms (86-60). Both HC and BU lost at home to Maine.
  • HC owns a 68-67 win at Georgetown and came up just short at Harvard, 74-72.
  • Joe Octave leads HC at 15.4 ppg and 6.5 rpg, while Caleb Kenney owns 11.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg and 35 blocks. The duo have combined for 30 steals as well.
  • HC's Dave Paulsen marks the fifth first-year head coach in the PL that BU will face this season. He was previously the head coach at Bucknell before heading to George Mason.
  • Overall, the Crusaders are averaging 66.9 ppg and 44.3 FG% while holding opponents to 76.3 ppg and 45.9 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Crusaders own a 60-27 all-time lead in a series that dates back to 1903.
  • Last season, HC earned the sweep with an 82-70 win at Case Gym and then 71-69 buzzer-beating victory at the Hart Center on a putback shot.
  • The Terriers last won in 2022 at HC with a 78-65 victory.
  • The teams will meet on CBS SN for the first time BU posted a 70-60 win at Holy Cross on Feb. 18, 2019, behind Jonas Harper's ('23) six 3-pointers and 22 career-high points.
UP NEXT
  • After playing three games in six days, the Terriers will have a mini-break and not play until Saturday (Feb. 3) when they host Lehigh at 1 p.m.
  • Both home teams won last season with BU avenging a 66-55 loss on Senior Day, 59-56.
