Gianino Named To TopDrawerSoccer National Team Of The Week
October 1, 2024 | Women's Soccer
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Adding to her list of accolades on the week, Boston University women's soccer junior Giulianna Gianino has been selected to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week for the week of Sept. 30, the publication announced on Tuesday.
Gianino is the first Terrier recognized as part of TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week since former teammate Abigail McNulty was an honorable mention in the first week of October last season. She is one of four midfielders represented on the team.
The Norwell, Mass. product is coming off her second Patriot League Midfielder of the Week award of the campaign. She tied a team-high with six points across two wins for the Terriers. On Wednesday (Sept. 25) at Colgate, she scored directly off a corner kick in the 88th minute to give BU a 3-2 win.
She followed that up with four second-half points on one goal and two assists vs. Lehigh on Saturday (Sept. 28), guiding the Terriers to their most goals in a match since 2017 in a 6-1 triumph.
Gianino currently leads BU with 14 points on the season, sharing the team lead with six goals. Her 1.27 points per game and 1.18 shots on goal per game rank fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Patriot League.
Having started all 51 of her career games in the Scarlet and White, Gianino has tallied 16 goals, seven assists, and 39 points in her collegiate tenure. She is tied for 12th place in program history in career goals, and tied for 18th in career points.
BU is in action at Yale on Tuesday (Oct. 1) to wrap up non-conference play in 2024. Opening kick is set for 7 p.m.
