BOSTON – The Boston University women's rowing program opened its first day of racing at the 59th Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday (Oct. 19), as the DeWolfe Boathouse served as the starting line. BU featured two alumnae boats and two crews with current student-athletes.
The Women's Senior Master Eights ignited the morning, placing 18th in a time of 19:24.998. The Alumnae Eights, prominently featuring graduates from the past three classes, clocked in at 18:04.234 to finish 28th.
For the second time in three years, BU's Club 4+ captured the bronze medal. Coxed by
Valeria Lizarraga Ramirez and stroked by
Nina Palmer, the Terriers completed the course in 18:24.347, finishing behind only Kansas and Columbia. Since 2011, the BU Club 4+ has reached the podium five times.
The Terrier Club 8+, coxed by
Maya Wiisanen and stroked by
Sally Thoden, placed 22nd in a time of 17:31.876, finishing in front of the top crews from Old Dominion and Marist.
