Bridget Carr notched her second-consecutive shutout, and the Boston University women's soccer team triumphed over three-time defending Patriot League champion Bucknell on Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
With the win, BU (4-7-5, 4-0-3 PL) has clinched a spot in the 2024 Patriot League Tournament. The Terriers are now tied with the Bison (9-4-2, 5-2-0 PL) atop the league table with two regular season matches remaining, and have the head-to-head tiebreaker over Bucknell.
Sophomore

Teresa Deda led the Bison with three shots. Netminder Jess Benattar made five stops.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Graduate student Lily Matthews launched the first shot of the game in the eighth minute with a right-footed try right towards Benattar. Moments later, Deda advanced with her own shot that Carr snagged by the left post.
- BU earned a free kick in the 16th minute. From nearly 20 yards out, junior Giulianna Gianino rocketed a shot off the crossbar near the upper-right corner.
- Three minutes later, the Terriers generated a corner kick, with Gianino's insert finding classmate Helene Tyburczy's header that narrowly floated over the woodwork.
- Senior Allison Hanlon gained possession deep into Bucknell's zone in the 25th minute to pass it off to Matthews, who then dished to senior Morgan Fagan. The latter's try was stopped by a diving Benattar.
- Carr's second save of the day was a leaping play towards the upper-right corner to deny Deda in the 28th minute. BU's defense then withstood consecutive Bison corners.
- The Terriers broke the ice in the 40th minute. Stewart chipped the ball into the box for Osterman, who evaded her marker and beat Benattar to the lower-right corner for a 1-0 lead that stood at half time.
- Carr made another athletic save to reject Deda's shot in the 53rd minute, diving to her left to poke away the Bison's 20-yard chance from the top-left corner of the box.
- Junior Mackenzie Stickelman created space to flick a 25-yard shot on goal, but Benattar lined it up for the stop in the 57th minute.
- Neither side generated a quality chance until sophomore Ciara Kennedy turned on the ball for a shot that was saved in the 83rd minute. Osterman's try for the brace moments later was blocked before reaching the goal line.
- BU maintained possession soundly in the final minutes, with Fagan's 1-on-1 chance turned aside by a diving Benattar with 1:11 to play in regulation.

- BU posted a 12-6 advantage in shots, including 6-3 on goal.
- Eight different Terriers rattled off at least one shot.
