Men's Basketball Set to Host Wagner Tuesday Night

BOSTON – Wrapping up a two-game homestand, the Boston University men's basketball team will host defending NEC champion Wagner on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. tip.

The Terriers are looking to carry momentum from Saturday's 78-50 home win over Dartmouth, while the Seahawks will try to rebound from a 54-28 loss at Seton Hall.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 1-1 on the season at Case Gym with the aforementioned victory against the Big Green and an 80-72 season-opening loss to Northeastern. 
  • After coming up one rebound shy of his first career double-double with 21 points on Saturday, sophomore Kyrone Alexander grabbed the team lead in scoring at 12.3 ppg while ranking second in rebounding at 5.3 rpg.
  • Senior Malcolm Chimezie (8.0 ppg) led BU in rebounds in each of the first three games before Alexander hauled in nine boards and currently owns a team-high 6.3 rpg. He's also shooting 73.3 percent from the field and is the lone Terrier to have recorded double-digit attempts at the free throw line so far.
  • Junior Otto Landrum and sophomore Spencer Joyner have missed all four games so far due to injury, while senior Ethan Okwuosa has missed the last three contests due to injury as well.
  • The Terriers are averaging 62.5 ppg and 42.0 FG% while holding opponents to 68.8 ppg and 44.2 FG% after Dartmouth became the first opponent to shoot under 30 percent since the 2018-19 season.
SCOUTING WAGNER
  • The Seahawks are seeking their first road win after falling at Seton Hall, then-No. 22 St. John's (66-45) and No. 25 Rutgers (75-52).
  • Wagner is 1-0 aat home with a 94-52 win over Manor College.
  • 6-foot-1 guard Javier Ezquerro is averaging a team-high 8.0 ppg, 4.0 apg and 1.5 spg, while 6-foot-7 forward Tyje Kelton owns a team-high 4.8 rpg with 6.0 ppg.
  • Wagner is averaging 54.8 ppg and 36.4 FG% while holding opponents to 61.8 ppg and 46.7 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Wagner leads the all-time series, 4-3, after the Terriers pulled away in the second half on the road last season for a 73-59 victory.
  • Landrum posted his first career double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds with Okwuosa and junior Nico Nobili both tallying 12 points.
  • The teams met for the first time since the 1981-82 season.
