BOSTON – Making its first of three scheduled trips down to Maryland, the Boston University men's basketball team will participate in UMBC's multi-team event over the weekend with both Saturday's matchup against the host Retrivers and Sunday's contest against two-time defending MEAC champion Howard set for 12 p.m.
The Terriers are coming off a split at home with a 78-50 win over Dartmouth and 60-58 loss to defending NEC champion Wagner. The Retrievers are in the midst of a seven-game homestand with a 2-2 mark so far, while the Bison are riding a three-game win streak.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Sophomore Kyrone Alexander has led BU in scoring in four of the five games with an average of 12.2 ppg alongside 5.4 rpg.
- Senior Malcolm Chimezie (7.4 ppg) has led the Terriers in rebounding in four contests at 6.6 rpg with a team-high three blocks.
- Graduate student Miles Brewster (8.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg) and sophomore Michael McNair (6.4 ppg) are both averaging a team-high 2.0 apg and have joined Alexander and Chimezie in starting all five contests.
- Due to injuries, BU has utilized three lineups already after using five all of last season.
- The Terriers will later be back in Maryland for Patriot League contests against Loyola Maryland and Navy.
- BU is 0-2 on the road this season with a 71-40 loss at UCLA and 74-60 defeat at San Diego.

SCOUTING UMBC
- The Retrievers have dropped their last two games at home to Saint Peter's (69-61) and Hampton (78-68) following wins over Coppin State (92-67) and Valley Forge (120-61).
- UMBC started the season with a 95-66 home win over Penn State York and then a 103-54 loss at Penn State.
- The Retrievers have three members averaging double figures in points with Bryce Johnson owning a team-high 14.3 ppg. Marcus Banks Jr. (13.8 ppg) and Louie Jordan (10.2 ppg) are close behind with Banks adding a team-high 5.2 rpg.
- Ace Valentine (5.3 ppg) is directing the offense with four assists per game.
- UMBC is averaging 81.7 ppg and 47.0 FG% while holding opponents to 74.0 ppg and 43.0 FG%.
SCOUTING HOWARD
- The Bison's two losses came on the road against a pair of Power 4 opponents in then-No. 1 Kansas (87-57) and Missouri (77-62).
- Howard posted wins against Dillard (91-73), Tennessee State (88-84 OT) and most recently FIU (75-70).
- Howard has three players averaging double figures in points with Marcus Dockery leading the way at 15.0 ppg with Blake Harper averaging 12.4 ppg alongside 5.8 rpg. Bryce Harris is nearly averaging a double-double at 11.4 ppg and team-high 7.6 rpg.
- Howard is averaging 74.6 ppg and 44.8 FG% while holding opponents to 78.2 ppg and 47.6 FG%.
- The Bison are shooting 42.1 3FG% and averaging four extra three-pointers per game (10.2-6.2).
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is facing UMBC for the first time since leaving the America East in the summer of 2013.
- The Terriers are 18-7 all-time in the series with an active five-game win streak thanks to 68-59 win at UMBC in 2013.
- The Terriers and Bison are tied, 1-1, after BU posted a 77-41 win at Central Florida in 2012 and the Bison claimed a 64-53 home victory last season.
