Terriers Post Three Top 10 Marks at Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener

December 7, 2024

BOSTON — Led by three all-time top 10 program finishes, the Boston University track & field program wrapped up the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at the Track & Tennis Center on Saturday.

Top 10 Terriers
  • Sophomore Shamiso Sikaneta kicked off his indoor season with a 1000-meter time of 2:21.71, giving him the second-fastest time in program history and the U20 Canadian national record, beating out a 52-year old record (2:22.54) held by Randy Makalosky. It's the 11th-fastest 1000m indoor time in Canadian national history, regardless of age.
  • In the 5000m, junior Vera Sjöberg finished in 15:45.75, moving her into second place on the all-time indoor performance list at BU. This mark is 26 seconds better than her previous personal best.
  • In his collegiate debut in the weight throw, freshman Mykhaylo Hychka tossed his implement 18.19 meters, winning the event with the 10th-best program mark. He is the first Terrier to crack the top 10 since 2014.

  • Riordan had himself a remarkable freshman debut, winning the shot put with a 14.90m heave to add to his third-place weight throw finish.
