Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

No. 15/20 Terriers Fall to Bryant, 12-6

BOSTON - Graduate student Louis Perfetto recorded his 200th career point and junior Will Barnes made a career-high 19 saves, but the No. 15/20 Boston University men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-6 setback to Bryant on Friday night at Nickerson Field.

Perfetto's fourth and final point on Friday brought him to 200. He is the third Terrier in program history to reach that milestone, joining classmate Vince D'Alto and 2023 graduate Timmy Ley. Perfetto tallied two goals and assisted on two others on Friday.

Five different Terriers found the back of the net, with graduate student Jake Cates, senior Tommy Bourque, junior Brenden Kelly and graduate student Thomas Niedringhaus each scoring a goal. Graduate student Vince D'Alto chipped in an assist.

Barnes did his part to keep the Terriers in the game, stopping 19 shots to surpass his previous career high of 18 saves from Feb. 6 against Saint Joseph's. He also collected three ground balls and had one of the Terriers' 14 caused turnovers. Graduate student Roy Meyer led BU with four takeaways in additiion to two ground balls while Cates caused three turnovers as part of the Terrier ride.

BU fell to 2-1 on the season and Bryant improved to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bryant withstood the Terriers' relentless ride early in the game and eventually struck first when Jack Lonsinger scored with 9:20 left in the first quarter.
  • Niedringhaus answered just 1:15 later off a feed from Perfetto.
  • Bryant then went on a four-goal run to take a 5-1 lead just 1:39 into the second quarter.
  • Bourque uncorked a shot for his first goal of the season less than two minutes later, but Kevin Groeninger scored the only other goal of the second quarter as Bryant went into the break with a 6-2 edge.
  • Lonsinger began the scoring in the second half with two straight goals to push the lead to 8-2 before Patrick Walsh scored with 4:34 left in the third frame.
  • Cates ripped home his sixth goal of the season to make it 9-3 with 1:56 on the clock, but Groeninger's last-second tally regained the Bulldogs' seven-goal lead heading into the final 15 minutes.
  • Perfetto scored both of his goals in the fourth quarter, but Bryant responded to both of them as BU never got closer than six.
  • Kelly capped the scoring with a man-up goal in the final minutes.
