SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Four members of the Boston University men's lacrosse team were named to the NEILA All-New England preseason team, as announced on Thursday.
BU led the region with four first-team selections, as graduate students Jake Cates, Vince D'Alto, Roy Meyer and Patrick Morrison all earned that recognition. All four standouts have followed up their fantastic 2023 seasons with strong starts to the 2024 campaign.
Cates, fully healthy after dealing with injuries over the past two seasons, has scored six goals and added four assists for 10 points in four games this season. He began the year with a career-high five goals against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 6. D'Alto has also been electric at the offensive end this season, totaling 21 points on 12 goals and nine assists. That includes a seven-goal, two-assist effort against Vermont on Feb. 10.
Meyer, a unanimous preseason First Team All-American, has been terrific as the Terriers' top LSM in 2024. He has recorded seven caused turnovers and collected 10 ground balls, including six in Tuesday's 16-10 win at Brown. Morrison is the NCAA leader with 14 caused turnovers this season, including six against Brown. He has also recorded 12 ground balls this year.
BU will return to action on Saturday, March 2, when the Terriers host Navy in their Patriot League opener at Nickerson Field.
