BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After averaging a team-high 15.5 points in a pair of victories, Boston University men's basketball freshman
Kyrone Alexander has earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
A native of Bridgetown, Barbados, Alexander becomes the first Terrier since 2016 and sixth overall this century to claim four Rookie of the Week awards from a conference. With the addition of freshman
Matai Baptiste's honor from back in November, BU has at least five Rookie awards for the first time since John Holland ('11) was recognized six times during the 2007-08 campaign.
Alexander started off with eight points and two assists to help BU complete the sweep against American in a 67-52 road victory. He then scored a career-high 23 points and hauled in a personal-best eight rebounds against Loyola Maryland. In the final two seconds, he blocked a layup attempt from the Greyhounds and added a pair of free throws to seal the thrilling 82-79 OT victory.
With two games remaining, the Terriers will next visit Lehigh on Wednesday (Feb. 28) at 6 p.m.
