Boaz Shines as No. 22/23 Softball Strikes Late in 5-4 Victory over Minnesota

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Facing a one-run deficit, the No. 22/23 nationally-ranked Boston University softball team scored four runs in the sixth and held off a late rally attempt to defeat Minnesota, 5-4, on Friday afternoon at South Carolina's Garnet & Black Invitational.

With their second win of the year against the Big Ten conference, the Terriers improve to 19-2, while the Gophers drop to 13-10 following earlier victories over then-No. 10 Clemson and No. 24 San Diego State.

Graduate student Allison Boaz (7-0) scattered six hits over the final 6.1 innings of work and added three of her own, including a double and RBI single. Senior Lauren Keleher, senior Kayla Roncin and freshman Kylie Doherty all totaled two hits apiece, as the Gophers allowed 10+ hits for just the third time this season. Sophomore Aimee Metz laid down a successful RBI bunt, and graduate student Caitlin Coker added a hard RBI grounder in the victory.

BU will next face Northwestern on Saturday (March 16) at 10 a.m.
