Terriers Travel to Baltimore to Face Loyola Maryland on Saturday

The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue its 2024 season on Saturday when the Terriers travel to Baltimore to face Loyola Maryland. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers improved to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League with a 13-10 home win over Bucknell on Saturday.
  • PL Offensive Player of the Week Vince D'Alto (6g, 1a) and graduate student Louis Perfetto (2g, 5a) combined for 14 points, with D'Alto scoring his six goals on just seven shots.
  • D'Alto, who did not turn the ball over against Bucknell while adding two ground balls and one caused turnover, also earned a spot on the USILA D1 Team of the Week.
  • Graduate student Roy Meyer recorded five ground balls and caused two turnovers en route to being named PL Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Meyer became the first Terrier defender to record 200 career ground balls, entering Saturday with 202.
  • Junior Matthew Fritz was selected as PL Faceoff Specialist of the Week after he went 14-of-18 at the faceoff X and matched his career high with eight ground balls.
  • Fritz was 8-of-10 in the second half to help BU pull away from Bucknell.
  • Junior Brenden Kelly has scored nine goals over the last three games.
  • Junior Will Barnes made 15 saves against Bucknell and enters Saturday with a league-leading .557 save percentage.
  • BU is the fifth-best riding team in the country, holding opponents to a .781 clearing percentage.
  • That includes forcing eight failed clears by Bucknell last weekend.

HISTORY AGAINST LOYOLA

  • BU is 4-6 against Loyola, including three wins in the last four contests.
  • That one loss was in last season's Patriot League semifinal round, when Loyola erased an 8-1 lead to earn a 12-11 victory at Nickerson Field.
  • The Terriers have won three straight regular-season games against the Greyhounds, including a 16-9 victory at Nickerson on April 15, 2023. 
  • The Terriers earned their first win at Loyola on April 16, 2022, defeating the Greyhounds, 14-9.
  • This is the first time that BU and Loyola are facing off prior to April 11.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • Loyola opened the season with an 18-10 victory over then-No. 11 Georgetown, but the Greyhounds are 1-5 since then.
  • Their other victory was an 11-10 overtime win at home against Towson on Feb. 27.
  • Four of the Greyhounds' five losses are to top-20 foes, including a 16-10 home defeat to then-No. 5 Duke on Saturday.
  • Graduate student Evan James leads Loyola with 20 points (14g, 6a) while classmate Adam Poitras (14g, 5a) is behind him with 19 points.
  • Senior Davis Lindsey leads the Greyhounds with nine assists and is third on the team with 15 points.
  • Freshman Carson Hall (29-of-75) and graduate student Eric Pacheco (37-of-101) are facing off at 38.7% and 36.6%, respectively, this season.
  • Junior defender Remi Reynolds leads Loyola with nine caused turnovers and scored the OT winner against Towson.
  • Senior Luke Staudt has started all seven games for the Greyhounds, posting a 12.90 goals-against average and a .520 save percentage.
