The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue its 2024 season on Saturday when the Terriers travel to Worcester to face Holy Cross. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

In addition to this being a crucial game for the Terriers in the Patriot League standings, BU can also earn a point in the Turnpike Trophy standings. The athletic series between the in-state Patriot League rivals, one that spans 13 varsity sports, is currently tied at 7-7 entering Saturday.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU returns to Patriot League play with a 3-1 conference record after last Friday's win over then-No. 1 Army West Point.
  • The Terriers nearly pulled off another top-five upset, falling just short at No. 5 Duke, 11-10, on Wednesday.
  • Five Terriers - Graduate students Jake Cates, Vince D'Alto, Roy Meyer, Patrick Morrison and Louis Perfetto - were named Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-Americans on Friday.
  • Perfetto is tied with D'Alto for the Patriot League lead in goals per game (2.78) and also has the solo lead in the PL in both assists per game (2.56) and points per game (5.33).
  • Perfetto is also fifth nationally in points per game, 16th in the NCAA in assists per game and 22nd in the country in goals per game.
  • D'Alto is closing in on two impressive milestones; he is four assists away from joining classmate Louis Perfetto as the only players in program history with 100 goals and 100 assists.
  • He is also just three goals away from besting James Burr's program record of 153 career goals.
  • Junior Will Barnes, the reigning PL Goalkeeper of the Week, made 14 saves against the Blue Devils and has combined for 29 saves against Army and Duke, two of the nation's top-10 offenses in the country prior to their respective meetings with BU.
  • He enters Saturday ranked third in the nation with 14.78 saves per game and sixth in the country with a .581 save percentage; both of those marks lead the Patriot League.
  • Barnes has allowed 10 goals or fewer in each of the Terriers' last three wins.
  • Meyer, the reigning PL Defensive Player of the Week, leads BU with 36 ground balls and is third on the squad with 13 caused turnovers.
  • During the Terriers' last four games, Meyer has collected 22 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
  • BU is the seventh-best riding team in the country, holding opponents to an .802 clearing percentage.

HISTORY AGAINST HOLY CROSS

  • BU is 7-2 all-time against Holy Cross, including a six-game win streak that dates back to April 21, 2017.
  • That victory was the last one-goal game in the series, as BU won the next five by a combined 39 goals.
  • BU is 4-1 all-time in Worcester, including a 16-10 triumph on March 19, 2022.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS

  • Holy Cross started the year 2-1 but has since lost five straight games, including four consecutive Patriot League defeats.
  • The Crusaders last played on Saturday, suffering a 17-7 setback at Navy.
