BOSTON – After helping lead the Boston University men's basketball team to its first second-place finish in the Patriot League standings since 2017, senior
Miles Brewster and freshman
Kyrone Alexander both earned All-Conference honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Brewster collected All-PL Second Team and All-Defensive Team accolades, while Alexander received All-Rookie Team recognition. The two Terriers were the only ones to start all 31 games for head coach
Joe Jones during the regular season.
With his two awards, Brewster becomes the first BU guard and third overall Terrier to earn both All-PL and All-Defensive Team honors in the same season, joining 2022 PL Player of the Year Sukhmail Mathon ('22) and 2020 PL Tournament MVP Max Mahoney ('20). A native of Brooklyn, New York, Brewster ranked in the top 15 in the PL in seven categories, including 1.5 spg (#3), 41.2 3FG% (#5), 3.2 apg (#6) and 10.9 ppg (#15) while also ranking third (85th nationally) with a 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio. Highlight performances include 21-point games against Colgate and American and also a personal-best five-steal contest at Rutgers.
With the help of five PL Rookie of the Week awards, Alexander becomes the 10th Terrier and first since 2019 to earn All-Rookie Team honors under Jones. The Bridgetown, Barbados, native played a key role in helping BU end the regular season with a five-game win streak for the first time since 2011 by averaging 16.6 ppg. He's currently at 9.1 ppg for the season while also averaging 4.0 rpg, 1.5 apg and 79.0 FT%. In his debut, he tallied 15 points at Northeastern and would later combine for 41 points in back-to-back overtime victories against Loyola Maryland and Lehigh.
The No. 2-seeded Terriers will next host either No. 7 Navy or No. 10 Loyola Maryland on Thursday (March 7) with a 7 p.m. start time.
