MONTREAL - Senior forward
Luke Tuch of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Tuch also signed a one-way contract with the Laval Rocket, allowing him to finish the current season in the AHL. His deal with the Canadiens begins in 2024-25.Â
A second-round pick of the Canadiens in the 2020 NHL Draft, Tuch enjoyed a terrific four-year career as a Terrier. He helped BU win the 2022 Beanpot, the 2023 Hockey East regular-season and tournament titles, and was instrumental in leading the Terriers to back-to-back Frozen Fours as an assistant captain. He was terrific down the stretch in 2023-24, totaling seven points (3g, 4a) over the final nine games, including a shorthanded goal in the NCAA semifinals against Denver.
Tuch had his best year as a Terrier this past season, setting new career highs in goals (10), assists (20), points (30) and plus-minus (+17). He missed just one game over the past two seasons and finished his BU career by playing in 121 games, scoring 31 goals and adding 40 assists for 71 points. Tuch also represented the United States at the most recent IIHF Men's World Championship, scoring a goal in his tournament debut.
