LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams placed third at the 2024 outdoor Patriot League Championships. BU combined for seven titles, six silver medals and seven bronze medals at the two-day meet. Additionally, sophomore
Vera Sjöberg was named the women's track athlete of the meet for her individual performances.
Top Dogs
- Sjöberg claimed the 5,000m title in 16:38.42 to help BU win the event for the third year in a row.
- She also ran 4:30.30 in the 1,500m to successfully defend her 2023 title run.
- Senior Stuart Bladon took the decathlon gold with 7,171 points to break his own school record that he set in 2023.
- Graduate student Foster Malleck ran 3:44.27 in the 1,500m to win the event for the third consecutive year.
- Sophomore Peace Omonzane jumped 12.03m (39' 3.75") in the triple jump to sweep the indoor and outdoor titles in the event.
Podium Appearances
- Sophomore Asia Hamilton picked up her second gold medal of the meet in the high jump with a mark of 1.76m (5' 9.25").
- Juniors Cole Tucker (17.54m (57' 6.5")) and Gabe Hickman (17.25m (56' 7.25")) took second and third, respectively, in the shot put.
- Senior Emma Kowalski threw for 47.81m (156' 10") in the discus to take third.
- The 4x100m relay squad of Imari Johnson, Jada Smith, Chinonye Moneme and Obiageli Akubude ran 46.77 to take third and set the ninth-fastest time in BU history.
- Sophomore Parker Schneider took second in the 1,500m with a time of 3:45.91.
- Senior Dakota Jackson ran 10.59 in the 100m dash to place third.
- Sophomore Freddy Collins ran to third place with a time of 14:09.04 in the 5,000m.
