Men's Basketball Heads to Colgate Saturday Afternoon

BOSTON – Seeking its first three-game win streak, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit defending Patriot League champion Colgate on Saturday with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.

Both teams are currently sitting atop the standings at 2-1 alongside Bucknell, Holy Cross and Navy. BU bounced back from a loss at Lafayette with back-to-back home wins over Army West Point (71-63) and most recently American (60-54). The Raiders also own two home wins against Army (71-59) and Lehigh (67-62) with a 66-60 loss at Bucknell.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Besides trying to extend its third two-game win streak of the season, the Terriers will attempt to move above .500 for the first time after opening the year at 0-3.
  • BU is 3-5 away from home with true road victories at America East opponents, Maine (59-56) and UMBC (75-71).
  • In Wednesday's win against the Eagles, sophomore Michael McNair tallied 20+ points for the second time in his career with the help of four 3-pointers to increase his scoring average to 10.8 ppg. He currently ranks 18th nationally with a 45.1 3FG%.
  • Classmate Kyrone Alexander maintained his team lead in scoring at 10.8 ppg with 15 points alongside a team-high seven rebounds for a 5.1 rpg average.
  • On the defensive front, senior Malcolm Chimezie (8.4 ppg) leads BU in rebounding at 5.7 rpg and in blocks at 14 total, while graduate student Miles Brewster (9.6 ppg) is averaging team-high 1.4 steals per game.
  • BU has faced a 9+ point deficit in each of the last six games, rallying for wins against the Black Bears, Black Knights and Eagles.
  • The Terriers are averaging 67.4 ppg and 44.2 FG% while holding opponents to 66.9 FG% and 42.3 FG%.
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders are 4-2 at home compared to their 1-9 road mark with victories over Vermont (65-60), SUNY Canton (95-62), Army and Lehigh. The two losses were to Cornell (84-57) and Iona (79-73) back in December.
  • Colgate is currently 0-2 against Massachusetts based programs with a 78-67 loss at Harvard and 78-75 defeat at Northeastern. In another key road game, the Raiders came up just short at Syracuse, 74-72.
  • Four Raiders are averaging double figures with Jeff Woodward leading the way at 11.5 ppg and 7.1 rpg while shooting 58.2 FG%.
  • Nicolas Louis-Jacques is averaging 11.4 ppg with Jalen Cox (10.3 ppg) and Brady Cummins (10.1 ppg) close behind.
  • As a team, Colgate is averaging 67.1 ppg and 44.1 FG% while holding opponents to 71.1 ppg and 44.8 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Raiders own a 34-30 all-time lead in the series, having won 10 of the last 11 meetings.
  • Last season, Colgate posted a 75-59 home win and then a 74-64 victory at Case Gym.
  • BU has fallen in the last six trips to Cotterell Court after claiming a thrilling 64-61 victory in the 2020 PL title game.
