BOSTON – Three weeks away from starting the 2025 campaign, the six-time defending Patriot League regular season champion Boston University softball team landed three Terriers on the Softball America Freshman Watch List, as announced by the online publication Tuesday morning.
Following the graduation of nine student-athletes from last year's 53-6-1 squad, head coach
Ashley Waters brought in seven total freshmen alongside two transfers with
Addie Lucier,
Camryn Lyons and
Danika Nell all earning a spot on the watch list. The Terriers were one of 17 non-Power 4 programs to have at least one player recognized and just one of two non-P4 teams to have at least three named.
A native of Salem, New Hampshire, Lucier was a two-time All-State and three-time Eagle Tribune All-Star member who batted over .500 all four seasons at Salem High School. The catcher and utility player helped lead her team to the 2021 New Hampshire State Championship while also playing for the Polar Crush softball club.
An outfielder ranked 65th nationally in the Class of 2024 by ExtraInningSoftball.com, Lyons joined BU from Oak Lawn, Illinois. The All-State First Team honoree graduated from Marist H.S. as a State champion and the career leader in batting average (.502) while also competing for the Beverly Bandits club.
Nell (Boissevain, Manitoba) competed over the summer as a member of Canadian Junior National Softball Team, helping the squad qualify for the 2025 World Cup U18 tournament with a pair of wins and a save after claiming silver at the Pan American Games in the spring. She also pitched for Institut Collégial Vincent Massey Collegiate and the club, Smitty's Terminators.
