Men's Basketball Travels to Army West Point for Saturday Noon Contest

BOSTON – Seeking its first sweep in Patriot League play, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Army West Point on Saturday with the tip-off scheduled for noon.

The Terriers won the first meeting at Case Gym, 71-63, back on Jan. 5, and are coming off a 63-58 home win over Lehigh. The Black Knights bounced back from the loss at BU with three consecutive wins against Loyola Maryland (74-72), Lehigh (74-69) and Lafayette (70-68).

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers will try to match their best start in PL play since opening 4-2 during the 2019-20 championship season.
  • In conference action, sophomore Michael McNair is averaging a team-high 13.8 ppg by shooting 51.1 FG% and 44.1 3FG%, while classmate Kyrone Alexander is averaging 12.2 ppg and 44.6 FG% alongside 5.0 rpg.
  • Senior Malcolm Chimezie has led the Terriers in rebounding through the first five games at 5.8 rpg.
  • BU ranks 55th nationally with a positive rebound margin of 5.6 and 49th in fouls per game (15.1). On the other end, the Terriers are 351st at 62.3 FT%.
  • BU will try to move above .500 for the first time this season after opening, 0-3. The Terriers were previously at .500 two times with a 5-5 and  8-8 record.
  • With the win over Lehigh, the Terriers are 5-8 when trailing with five minutes left in regulation and 4-1 when holding the lead.
  • BU is averaging 66.2 ppg and 44.0 FG% while holding opponents to 67.5 ppg (72nd-best mark) and 43.0 FG%. In conference play, the Terriers have held teams to just 41.2 FG%.
SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
  • The Black Knights are 7-2 at home compared to the 2-6 road mark with key non-conference wins over UAlbany (67-59) and UTSA (78-75) alongside PL victories against Lafayette and Loyola.
  • Army started PL play with 71-59 loss at Colgate and 71-63 defeat at BU.
  • Army has had four players start all 17 games with Jalen Rucker averaging a team-high 18.9 ppg and 1.8 spg.
  • Josh Scovens (15.9 ppg), Ryan Curry (12.1 ppg) and AJ Allenspach (10.4 ppg) are the other starters averaging double figures in points. Curry leads Army in assists at 3.9 apg, while Allenspach is nearly averaging a double-double with 8.5 rpg.
  • Army is averaging 76.5 ppg and 45.2 FG% while holding opponents to 75.4 ppg and 45.5 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 23-19, after the Terriers rallied from a 10-point first-half deficit to lead by as many as 12 in the second and pull out a 71-63 victory.
  • The Terriers shot 50.9 percent from the field and held the Black Knights to 40.7 FG% to overcome Army posting an 11-9 advantage in 3-pointers.
  • McNair and Rucker both finished with a game-high 17 points.
