BOSTON – Riding a five-game homestand, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Bucknell Saturday with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
Both the Terriers and Bison are undefeated in Patriot League home games and are seeking their first road conference win. BU most recently fell at Navy on Wednesday, and Bucknell fell at Colgate this past Monday.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- With five straight wins at Case Gym, BU is on its longest home win streak since claiming six consecutive victories during the 2019-20 season. During the streak, the Terriers have beaten UAlbany, Thomas College, Army West Point, American and most recently Lehigh back on Jan. 15.
- Sophomore Kyrone Alexander (12.4 ppg) and classmate Michael McNair (10.4 ppg) remain the top two leading scorers for BU, having both tallied 20+ points at least once. On Wednesday, freshman Azmar Abdullah (6.4 ppg) joined Alexander (3x) as the second Terrier to hit the mark multiple times with 21 points against both Navy and Howard in Maryland.
- Alexander has increased his scoring to 17.4 ppg in home games with McNair adding nearly three points to his average at 13.2 ppg.
- Senior Malcolm Chimezie leads BU in both rebounding (5.3 rpg) and blocks (14 total) with 7.7 ppg. Junior Ben Roy remains the team leader in assists at 2.3 apg.
- In the nine home games, BU is averaging 73.3 ppg and 47.6 FG% while holding opponents to 65.2 ppg and 41.6 FG%. Overall on the season, BU's offensive numbers have dropped to 65.0 ppg and 43.5 FG%.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
- The Bison are 2-9 away from Sojka Pvilion with wins at Delaware (85-73) and Southern Indiana (75-69 OT) back in November.
- Bucknell has reached overtime in six contests with with two contests at home going to a second extra session against Mount Saint Mary's (L, 93-89) and Richmond (W, 80-76).
- Noah Williamson owns a team-high 15.5 ppg and 6.9 rpg with those numbers increasing to 19.3 ppg and 8.0 rpg in conference play.
- Josh Bascoe has also increased his scoring from 15.4 ppg to 16.7 ppg while averaging a team-high 3.9 apg and 1.4 spg.
- Overall, Bucknell is averaging 69.9 ppg and 42.7 FG% while holding opponents to 74.4 ppg and 43.5 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
- Bucknell leads the all-time series, 15-12, after the road team won both meetings last season by double digits.
- Clinging to a 25-24 halftime lead at Sojka Pavilion, the Terriers outscored the Bison, 52-38, in the second half with Alexander posting a game-high 19 points as one of four in double figures.
- In the last meeting at Case Gym, the Bison shot over 45 percent from the field and held the Terriers to 35.6 FG% to claim a 73-57 win. Anthony Morales ('24) was the lone Terrier in double figures at 21 points.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Terriers will have a quick turnaround and host Holy Cross on Monday (Jan. 27) as part of a Turnpike Trophy doubleheader at Case Gym.
- The women will face off at 4 p.m. with the men following at 7 p.m.
- Both contests will be shown live on CBS Sports Network.
- Last season, the BU men recorded a split against the Crusaders with both home teams prevailing.
