HAMILTON, N.Y. – No. 14 Boston University women's ice hockey (0-4-0, 0-0-0 HE) dropped a close 4-3 decision to No. 8 Colgate (2-2-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) on Saturday evening at the Class of 1965 Arena.

Despite four penalties in the first frame, including a major penalty given to BU, the game remained scoreless headed into the second. Colgate took a 2-0 lead in the middle frame before both teams exploded in the third.

BU scored just 2:12 into the third frame before tying the game 2-2 at the 7:48 mark. Colgate responded with its third goal a few minutes later, holding a 3-2 lead until BU tied things once again at the 13:24 mark. That tie held until Raiders scored the game winning goal just over a minute later. BU successfully defended an empty net but could not tie things up again, resulting in a 4-3 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU skated well on both ends of the ice until 11:30 to go in the first when it was called for cross checking.
- Colgate challenged the call for contact to the head and was successful, resulting in a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct.
- The Terriers were then successful on the penalty kill.
- BU was called for cross checking at the 14:21 mark and Colgate was called for hooking at 14:37, resulting in 4-on-4 on the ice.
- Both penalties cleared without a change in score.
- Colgate went to the box for body checking with 1:06 to go in the frame and the Terriers were unsuccessful on the power play that lasted into the second period.
- At 7:37, Colgate found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.
- BU served a penalty for interference with 11:43 to play in the middle frame and were again successful on the penalty kill.
- Colgate was called for interference at 14:40 but BU did not score on the power play.
- Moments after the Raiders returned to full strength, BU went to the box for interference and killed off the penalty.
- Colgate took a 2-0 lead with 18 seconds left in the second frame.
- Just 2:12 into the third, passes from Bertelsen and Hendersen found Quigg in the slot, whose shot cut into Colgate's lead, 2-1.
- The Terriers were called for cross checking at 3:21 and successfully killed the penalty.
- Meinert and Walsh set up Yuhn, whose shot from the bottom of the left circle tied the game 2-2.
- Colgate went ahead, 3-2, at the 12:22 mark.
- Just over a minute later, Li. Welcke battled for the puck at the Colgate crease and poked it in to tie the game once again. She was assisted by Lu. Welcke and S. Healey.
- At 14:31, Colgate found the back of the net to take a 4-3 lead.
- BU pulled Pasiechnyk from the posts for an extra skater with 2:35 to play, but the Raiders held on for a 4-3 win.

- Colgate outshot BU 42 to 18.
- BU was 5-for-5 on penalty kills while Colgate was 3-for-3.
- The Terriers blocked 18 shots compared to Colgate's six, with freshman Anežka Čabelová leading the Terriers with four. Â
- Colgate won 29 faceoffs while BU won 26.
- Quigg, Yuhn and Li. Welcke all scored their first goal of the 2025-26 season.
