The No. 1 Boston University men's ice hockey team will host No. 3/4 Michigan State in two top-five matchups at Agganis Arena this weekend.
Friday night's contest will be nationally broadcast in the United States on ESPN2 and features John Buccigross and 2009 national champion Colby Cohen on the call.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers took on Colgate in their first weekend series of the year, coming away with a 6-2 victory on Friday night and finished tied 2-2 at the end of overtime on Saturday night before winning the shootout, 2-0.
- Friday's contest featured five different Terrier scorers, including three first collegiate goals from freshmen Ryder Ritchie and Jonathan Morello and junior Mick Frechette.
- Sophomore Cole Eiserman stayed hot, scoring his third and fourth goals of the season in the win.
- He leads the team with five goals and six points and leads Hockey East with his five tallies.
- Sophomore Cole Hutson also scored in that win, and his five points this year are the most by a Hockey East defenseman through the first two weekends.
- Eiserman scored again in the tie on Saturday night, also adding a goal in the shootout.
- Freshman Jack Murtagh turned heads with a beautiful deke on a breakaway, beating the goaltender for his first collegiate goal.
- Sophomore goaltender Mikhail Yegorov stopped 47 of 51 shots over the weekend, good for a 1.92 GAA from the two games.
- The Terriers have shown prowess on the power play this season, converting on four-of-13 chances to start the year. They have also killed off 13-of-14 penalties.
- Eiserman leads the NCAA in power play goals with three.
- BU was ranked first in the USCHO and USA Hockey national polls on Monday, Oct. 13.
- This is the first time BU has topped the polls during the season since Jan. 15, 2024.
- ESPN2 last broadcast a home game for BU in 2022, when the Terriers took down Harvard 2-1 in overtime at Walter Brown Arena.
- Agganis Arena last hosted a nationally televised game on Nov. 23, 2022, a 5-2 win for the Terriers over Notre Dame on ESPNU.
HISTORY WITH MICHIGAN STATE
- BU is 9-8-0 against the Spartans in 17 all-time meetings, including a 1-0 victory last time out at Agganis Arena on Oct. 24, 2014.
- Ahti Oksanen scored the lone goal in the win and he was assisted by current Vegas Golden Knights captain Jack Eichel and current Chicago Blackhawk Matt Grzelcyk.
- BU and Michigan State have only met for a regular-season weekend series twice before, with both coming at Munn Arena. Those series took place in 1977 and 1988.
- Chris Higgins and Kevin Shattenkirk were the two goal scorers, and the game featured Friday night's ESPN2 analyst, Colby Cohen, recording a shot and finishing +1 on the evening for BU.
- The Terriers have won both contests against the Spartans played at Agganis Arena, with the other being an Oct. 11, 2008 2-1 win over the Spartans in the championship game of the Ice Breaker Tournament.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- The Spartans enter this weekend ranked third in the USCHO national poll and fourth in the USA Hockey poll.
- Michigan State split a weekend series with New Hampshire to open its season, falling 4-3 on a last-second goal on Friday night and turning in a 2-0 win on Saturday.
- Senior Charlie Stramel and freshman Porter Martone each scored a goal over the weekend and lead the team in points with three apiece.
- Stramel and classmates Matt Basgall and Daniel Russell return as 20-plus point scorers from 2024-25.
- 2025 Richter Award finalist and First Team AHCA All-American netminder Trey Augustine is back in between the pipes for MSU.
- The junior stopped 35 of 39 shots in his first weekend of action this year.
