December 1, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Sophomores Kamil Bednarik, Cole Eiserman and Cole Hutson of the Boston University men's ice hockey team were named to the preliminary roster for the 2026 U.S. National Junior Team, USA Hockey announced on Monday.
The three standouts will join 28 other hopefuls at a training camp at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minnesota, from Dec. 15-23. Players are auditioning for a spot on the final 25-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will be held Dec. 26, 2025 – Jan. 5, 2026, Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Eiserman and Hutson were key pieces of the U.S. roster that claimed gold at the 2025 World Junior Championship. Hutson set Team USA's single-tournament scoring record for a defenseman and also became the first defensemen to lead the World Junior Championship in scoring, as he totaled three goals and eight assists to pace all skaters with 11 points. Eiserman notched three goals and four assists for seven points.
Bednarik has been a terrific two-way forward for the Terriers this season, recording seven points (3g, 4a) in 14 games while also leading the Terriers with a .527 faceoff win percentage. He leads Hockey East and is second in the nation with two shorthanded goals and has also been an integral part of the BU power play. His power-play strike on Saturday opened the scoring in the Terriers' 2-1 win over Cornell at Red Hot Hockey. In 54 career games at BU, Bednarik has notched five goals and 21 assists for 26 points.
Eiserman is tied with Hutson for the team lead in goals (7) and has added three assists for 10 points in 11 games this season. He most recently scored the game-winning goal and assisted on Bednarik's opening salvo in the Terriers' victory over Cornell on Saturday. Three of Eiserman's seven strikes have come on the power play. He began the season with five goals in his first three games. In 50 career games with the Terriers, Eiserman has notched 32 goals and added 14 assists for 46 points.
Hutson has established himself as one of the top defensemen in the country, as he leads all NCAA blue liners with 18 points on seven goals and 11 assists. That includes three game-winning goals, two of which came in overtime. The National Defender of the Month for October, Hutson paces all skaters in time on ice (26:28), is a plus-8 and has blocked 18 shots this season. In just 54 career games, Hutson has totaled 66 points (21g, 45a); only his brother Lane (68 points) has totaled more points in his first 54 games as an NCAA defenseman since at least 2004-05.
