BOSTON – Concluding a two-game road trip, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Bucknell Wednesday night with a 7 p.m. start time.
Both teams are in the upper half of the Patriot League standings with only six games remaining and just two contests separating current No. 1 American (10-3) and No. 3 Bucknell, who is tied with Colgate. The Terriers are three games behind the Eagles at 6-6 and only two behind No. 2 Army West Point (8-4).
TERRIER TIDBITS
- In total, four Terriers have scored at least 20+ points with sophomore Kyrone Alexander (12.4 ppg) reaching the mark at least three times.
- Owner of a season-high 20-point performance against American, sophomore Michael McNair (10.7 ppg) leads the team with 59 3-pointers while shooting 41.8 percent from behind the arc.
- Graduate student Miles Brewster is just 0.2 points shy of averaging 10.0 points per game while owning a team-high 31 steals. He also has 53 assists, four behind junior Ben Roy who has an impressive 4.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.
- BU ranks 37th nationally in rebounding margin at +5.5 rpg and owns a 13-6 record when finishing ahead in rebounds. Senior Malcolm Chimezie leads the team's efforts in the paint at 5.2 rpg with Alexander close behind at 4.9 rpg.
- BU is currently 3-10 away from Case Gym, last earning a victory at Maine (59-56) back on Dec. 29. Two of BU's six Patriot League road losses have been by single digits, including a 69-67 defeat at Loyola Maryland on Feb. 1.
- The Terriers are currently averaging 66.4 ppg and 43.9 FG% while holding opponents to 67.7 ppg and 44.6 FG%. However, in road games, BU's offensive numbers drop to 57.5 ppg and 39.6 FG%.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
- The Bison are 8-3 at home compared to 3-11 away from Sojka Pavilion, earning notable non-conference wins over Richmond (80-76 OT) and NJIT (81-64). They also boast a 6-0 mark against Patriot League opponents, including defending PL champion Colgate (66-60) and most recently the standings leader American (10-3), 71-49.
- Bucknell has reached overtime in eight contests with three going to double overtime with key victories against the Spiders and Lafayette. The Bison came up short at Army West Point, 116-110, on Saturday.
- Noah Williamson owns a team-high 17.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg with those numbers increasing to 20.8 ppg and 8.7 rpg in conference play.
- Josh Bascoe has also increased his scoring from 15.3 ppg to 16.0 ppg while averaging a team-high 4.3 apg and 1.4 spg.
- Overall, Bucknell is averaging 73.0 ppg and 45.2 FG% while holding opponents to 75.2 ppg and 44.0 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
- Bucknell leads the all-time series, 15-13, after BU claimed a thrilling 85-82 OT victory at Case Gym back on Jan. 25.
- The Terriers scored the only four points of the final minute of regulation with junior Otto Landrum hitting a layup at 12 seconds.
- The Bison shot 57.7 FG% and held BU to 47.5 FG%, making Bucknell the Terriers' first opponent to lose shooting 55.0+ FG% since BU won at Colgate, 76-74, in 2014 when the Raiders finished ahead of BU, 55.1-53.4 FG%.
- In the last meeting at Bucknell, BU owned a 25-24 lead at the half and shot 67 FG% during the second half with seven 3FGs to pull away for a 77-62 victory. Alexander led all players with 19 points and six assists.
