Men's Basketball to End Road Schedule at Lehigh Wednesday Evening

BOSTON – Concluding the final road trip of the regular season, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Lehigh on Wednesday with the tip-off set for 6 p.m.

Both squads are looking to bounce back from weekend losses on the road with the Terriers coming up just short at American, 48-44, and the Mountain Hawks falling at Lafayette, 78-70.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • In conference play, BU is 8-0 at home and 0-8 on the road with three of the losses being decided by six points or less, including a 69-67 defeat at Loyola Maryland.
  • Three Terriers are currently averaging double digits in points with sophomore Kyrone Alexander leading the way at 12.6 ppg alongside 5.0 rpg, 2.1 apg and 1.1 spg. He remains the lone player to have claimed a double-double this season.
  • Classmate Michael McNair is next at 10.5 ppg thanks to shooting 42.6 percent behind the arc for a team-leading 66 3-pointers. Graduate student Miles Brewster averages 10.1 ppg, 2.2 apg and 1.2 spg.
  • Senior Malcolm Chimezie (8.0 ppg) scored 10+ points for the seventh time at American and remains the team leader in rebounding at 5.1 rpg to help BU rank 37th nationally in rebound margin at +5.4 rpg.
  • The Terriers are 13-7 when winning the rebound battle and are 12-8 when outscoring opponents in second-chance opportunities.
  • Overall, BU is averaging 66.4 ppg and 43.5 FG% while holding opponents to 68.0 ppg and 44.6 FG%. The Terriers are 14-4 this season when shooting 40+ FG%.
SCOUTING LEHIGH
  • The Mountain Hawks are 8-4 at home compared to their 2-13 road mark, earning wins over Holy Cross, Colgate, Lafayette and Bucknell following notable non-conference victories against Monmouth and Marist.
  • In conference play, Lehigh has dropped six games decided by six points or less, including 68-67 decision at American and 78-75 OT contest vs. American.
  • Three Mountain Hawks are averaging double figures in points with Keith Higgins, Jr., leading the way at 17.9 ppg alongside team-high 5.0 rpg.
  • Keith Higgins Jr. leads Lehigh at 17.9 ppg and 5.0 rpg, while Tyler Whitney-Sidney averages 13.7 ppg and 1.8 apg. Nasir Whitlock and Cam Gillus are next in line at 9.7 ppg.
  • As a team, Lehigh averages 69.6 ppg and 44.4 FG% while holding opponents to 71.1 ppg and 44.5 FG%. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 16-10, after claiming a 63-58 home victory back on Jan. 15. The Terriers have won five of the last six meetings.
  • In the previous contest, the Terriers owned a 26-8 lead at home with 5:30 left in the first half and later trailed by two, 50-48, at 4:40 in the second half. 
  • Alexander broke a 55-55 deadlock with a 3-pointer at 1:28 and BU added five free throws following Brewster's layup at 41 seconds to pull away.
  • Alexander tallied a team-high 18 points and six rebounds, while Tyler Whitney-Sidney posted 20 points for a Lehigh squad that shot 60.0 FG% in the second half after being held to 30.8 FG% in the first.
  • Last season, the Terriers swept the regular season contests by a combined three points and then suffered heartbreak in the PL semifinals, 84-79 (OT).
LOOKING AHEAD
  • Riding a 10-game home win streak, the Terriers will return to Case Gym to honor the senior class and host Lafayette in the final contest of the regular season on Saturday (March 1) at 1 p.m.
  • The Leopards won the first meeting, 60-46, after the teams split last season.
