The No. 20 Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue its 12th season on Saturday when the Terriers open Patriot League play against Navy. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ starting at 12 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU improved to 4-0 with a 15-7 home win over Air Force this past Saturday.
- Freshman Timothy Shannehan set new career highs with five goals and seven points while classmate Mike Rooney scored a career-best four goals.
- Shannehan is the first Terrier rookie to record 20 points (11g, 9a) through his first four games, with no Terrier rookie having notched more goals (9) and assists (11) through his first four games than Shannehan.
- Shannehan is tied for the NCAA lead among freshmen with 20 points and 5.0 points per game.
- Junior Jimmy Kohr has scored a team-best 13Â goals and added three assists for 16 points
- Juniors Matt Freeman and Connor Kehm are tied for second in the Patriot League and third in the NCAA with 2.75 caused turnovers per game.
- Freeman also leads BU with 16Â ground balls, one ahead of Kehm.
- Senior Will Barnes is second in the Patriot League and fifth in the NCAA with a 6.41 goals-against average.
- He is also second in the PL and 13th in the NCAA with a .619 save percentage, ranking ninth in the country among goalies with four or more games played.
- BU ranks first in the nation in caused turnovers per game (13.00), including 15 caused turnovers against Brown on Feb. 18 and 12 more against Air Force last Saturday.
- The Terriers are also third in the nation and second in the Patriot League on the ride, holding opponents to a .714 clearing percentage through four games.
- BU ranks fifth in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing just 6.75 goals per game.
- The Terriers have not allowed more than seven goals in any game this season.
- BU went 4-for-4 on man-up chances against Air Force and now rank fifth in the NCAA and first in the Patriot League in that category, having converted on eight of their 12 chances this season.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 3-6 all-time against Navy, including a 1-3 record at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
- Navy defeated the Terriers, 16-9, last season at Nickerson Field.
- BU last beat the Mids on April 2, 2022, earning a 17-9 win at Nickerson.
- Six of the past eight games between BU and Navy have been decided by two goals or fewer.
SCOUTING NAVY
- The Mids began the year 3-0 before suffering a 13-7 loss at then-No. 10 Penn State on Feb. 22.
- Navy owns a road win at High Point and has also bested Iona and then-No. 18 Towson.
- Freshman William Goers leads the Mids in goals (6), assists (6) and points (12), though he was held to just one assist against the Nittany Lions.
- Senior Carter Ash has also scored six goals this season, one of 21 different Navy players to score a goal through the first four games.
- Sophomore Zach Hayashi owns a .562 faceoff percentage in four appearances, going 41-of-73 at the X and collecting 18 ground balls.
- Senior Jacob Darrow leads Navy with four caused turnovers and he also has eight ground balls.
- Junior Dan Daly was phenomenal in goal against Penn State, making a career-high 19 saves.
- He owns a 10.77 goals-against average and a .562 save percentage in his four starts.
