BOSTON – Riding a seven-game home win streak, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Navy on Wednesday night with a 7 p.m. start time.
Both squads are currently tied-for-fifth at 5-5 and just one game behind No. 2 Army and Bucknell after experiencing tough losses over the weekend. The Terriers came up just short at Loyola Maryland, 69-67, while the Midshipmen had their three-game win streak snapped at home by the Bison, 85-75.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU's active seven-game home win streak is currently tied-for-32nd nationally and marks the Terriers' longest since the 2010-11 squad ended its season winning the last nine contests.
- Sophomore Kyrone Alexander earned his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Loyola to increase his team-leading scoring average to 12.8 ppg. He's currently second in rebounding at 5.0 rpg with senior Malcolm Chimezie (8.1 ppg) leading the way at 5.3 rpg.
- Sophomore Michael McNair is the second Terrier in double figures at 10.3 ppg while shooting 40.6 percent from behind the arc. In the 11 home games, he's been even more effective in 3-point territory at 49.2 3FG% en route to 13.1 ppg, 3.9 points behind Alexander's average.
- In total, 11 Terriers have scored 10+ points at least once, including junior Ben Roy (3.5 ppg) who leads BU in assists at 2.4 apg.
- Graduate student Miles Brewster (9.3 ppg, 2.0 apg) remains the team leader in steals at 1.3 spg.
- On the season, BU is averaging 66.1 ppg and 43.4 FG% while holding opponents to 67.6 ppg and 44.2 FG%. At Case Gym though, the Terriers have increased their offensive production to 74.0 ppg and 47.0 FG%.
SCOUTING NAVY
- The Midshipmen 3-8 on the road compared to their 5-5 home mark with an 86-78 non-conference victory at Penn.
- In the last two road contests, Navy posted victories at Army (66-53) and Lehigh (79-54).
- Austin Benigni leads Navy at 17.7 ppg and 4.3 apg while Aidan Kehoe is just shy of averaging a double-double at 10.4 ppg and 9.5 rpg.
- Donovan Draper is close behind at 8.2 ppg and 7.7 rpg.
- As a team, Navy is averaging 71.3 ppg and 42.3 FG% while holding opponents to 70.4 ppg and 43.8 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 14-12, after Navy claimed a 62-47 home victory at Alumni Hall back on Jan. 22.
- Last season, the Terriers won both meetings at Case Gym, including a 70-61 decision in the Patriot League quarterfinals.
- Brewster tallied 10 points and four assists, while Alexander posted nine points and eight rebounds alongside two assists and two blocks in the third meeting.
- Benigni averaged 21.0 ppg and 41.3 FG% in the three games for the Midshipmen.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Terriers will visit Holy Cross for a Turnpike Trophy doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 8) with a 12 p.m. tip. The women will follow at 3 p.m.
- The BU men won at home, 69-59, back on Jan. 27 after the women posted a 52-49 victory against the Crusaders.
