The Boston University men's lacrosse team will begin its 12th season on Saturday when the Terriers travel to Siena. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 8-3 all-time in season openers, including a 14-10 neutral-site win over Saint Joseph's in 2024.
- The Terriers were picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, with Army West Point, Lehigh and Colgate occupying the top three spots.
- BU has advanced to the Patriot League semifinals in each of the last three seasons, including last season's run to the championship game.
- The Terriers return at least one starter at every position group, including senior goalkeeper Will Barnes.
- Barnes was a 2024 Second Team All-Patriot League and Second Team All-New England honoree after leading the conference in both save percentage (.538) and saves per game (13.29).
- Senior attackman Brenden Kelly scored a career-high 43 goals last year and added six assists for a career-best 49 points.
- Senior Zach Travaglini started 12 games in the midfield last year, scoring a career-high 11 goals and matched his career best with 14 points.
- Travaglini is one of three Terrier captains this season along with graduate student James Corcoran and senior Matt Caccese.
- Junior Connor Kehm had a breakout year as a sophomore, starting 11 of his 17 appearances at close defense.
- Kehm collected 45 ground balls, recorded 22 caused turnovers and notched one assist.
- Senior Matthew Fritz took at least one faceoff in all 17 games during his first season with BU in 2024, winning 53.4% of his draws (155-of-290) in addition to scoring a career-high three goals and dishing out one assist for four points.
A NEW OPPONENT FOR BU
- Saturday will mark the first time that BU and Siena face off against one another.
- The Saints will become the 31st different Division I team the Terriers have faced in their 12-year history.
SCOUTING SIENA
- The Saints finished 8-8 last season and advanced to the MAAC semifinals before falling to top-seeded Sacred Heart.
- The Saints return their leading point producer, junior Caden Olmstead, who notched 53 points on 41 goals and 12 assists.
- Senior Pratt Reynolds led Siena with 45 goals last year and was second behind Olmstead with 49 points.
- Senior Ryan McCarthy finished last year third in points (43) thanks to a team-high 36 assists.Â
- Senior Andrew Rooney is the team's returning leader in both ground balls (47) and caused turnovers (15).
- Fifth-year goalkeeper Andrew Arcuri returns to Siena after starting all 16 games in 2024.
- He posted an 11.32 goals-against average and a .487 save percentage in those 16 starts.
