Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

No. 16/17 Terriers Fall at No. 12/13 Harvard, 16-7

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Junior Jimmy Kohr recorded four goals but the No. 16/17 Boston University men's lacrosse team fell at No. 12/13 Harvard, 16-7, on Tuesday night at Jordan Field.

Kohr and freshman Ben Morris (1g, 1a) were the lone Terriers to secure multiple points on the evening. Senior Trey Brown notched a goal in addition to collecting one ground ball and one caused turnover while freshman Andrew Pape also found the back of the net. Senior Jimmy O'Connell and freshman Timothy Shannehan each had one assist.

Senior Matthew Fritz went 6-of-10 at the faceoff X with four ground balls in addition to assisting on Brown's goal. Freshman Madden Murphy was 9-for-14 at the X and matched his career high with five ground balls. Sophomore Logan Styles forced two Crimson turnovers and gathered two ground balls while junior Connor Kehm had two caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Harvard improved to 6-2 while the Terriers dropped to 7-2 after the first official Charles River Rivalry Game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Harvard started off with a 4-0 run before Pape ripped home a shot to make it a 4-1 game.
  • A nice individual effort from Morris cut the deficit to 4-2, but Harvard scored the final three goals of the first quarter to hold a 7-2 lead after 15 minutes.
  • Harvard then outscored the Terriers, 5-1, in the second quarter, with a Kohr man-up goal off a feed from Shannehan the only time BU broke through.
  • The Terriers started the third quarter on a high note, with Fritz winning the opening draw and then feeding a wide-open Brown for a pole goal.
  • Kohr then scored a nifty BTB goal off a nice feed from Morris, who stayed with the play after being knocked down and recovered to complete the pass.
  • Harvard scored at the end of the shot clock on its final possession of the third quarter to take a 13-5 lead into the final 15 minutes.
  • Kohr scored two of the game's final three goals to create the 16-7 final.
GAME NOTES
  • Shannehan became the first freshman in the country to reach 40 points.
  • Senior Will Barnes made nine saves for BU while Harvard's Graham Stevens made eight saves.
  • BU assisted on four of its seven goals.
  • The Terriers forced seven failed clears.
  • BU went 2-for-3 on man-up opportunities.
