BOSTON – Riding a seven-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will host Colgate in a Patriot League series with Friday's doubleheader set for a 1 p.m. first pitch and Saturday's single-game matchup scheduled for 12 p.m. start.
The six-time defending PL regular season champion Terriers started conference play last weekend with a sweep at Bucknell that included a 14-7 15-inning thriller, while the Raiders had a bye and went to Siena for a pair of losses.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is on a 40-game home unbeaten streak at 39-0-1 thanks to a DH sweep over Yale (8-2, 8-0) back on March 18.
- The Terriers most recently shut out Merrimack on the road, 7-0 and 8-0 (5).
- Recipient of two PL Player of the Week awards this season, junior Brooke Deppiesse is batting a stellar .444 with five homers, six triples, 10 doubles, 27 RBIs and 34 runs scored, while sophomore Kylie Doherty (.352) leads BU in homers (7) and RBIs (29).
- Both sophomore Libby Walsh (.318) and junior Megan Coyle (.315) are also hitting over .300 with Coyle delivering 22 RBIs.
- Four pitchers have earned at least three starts with junior Kasey Ricard (12-6, 2.17 ERA) totaling 125 strikeouts over 122.1 innings of work.
- With freshman Danika Nell (4-1, 3.44 ERA) last pitching at South Carolina on Feb. 22 due to injury, freshman Ava Johnson (2-1, 3.71 ERA) and junior Haley Ganino (1-2, 4.30 ERA) have seen more time, combining for 23 strikeouts in 31.2 innings.
- BU is batting .299 and holding opponents to .231 with a 19-4 advantage in triples and 19-12 lead in homers.
SCOUTING COLGATE
- The Raiders have yet to host a game with a 3-10 road mark and 7-9 record in neutral contests.
- Colgate earned a pair of wins against both Manhattan and North Carolina A&T.
- Quinn Livesay is batting a team-high .382 with seven homers, 11 doubles and 19 RBIs, while Analisa Raffaelli (.283) has six homers, 14 RBIs and team-high 20 runs scored.
- In the circle, Maya Servedio (5-11, 4.13 ERA) has totaled 63 strikeouts in 81.1 innings, while Alexa Acker (3-6, 4.20 ERA) and Mikala Ham (2-2, 4.27 ERA) have combined for 71 strikeouts in 96 innings.
- Colgate is batting .251 and holding opponents to .303 with a 26-21 lead in homers.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 32-1 all time with an 18-0 home mark.
- Last season, the Terriers posted a sweep on the road with a 6-0, 4-2 (8) and 16-0 (5) victory.
- Two years ago home at home, BU pulled out a pair of one-run decisions , 2-1 and 6-5 (8), before completing the sweep, 6-1.
LOOKING AHEAD
- BU will being a five-game road trip with a visit to Providence on Wednesday (April 2) for a 3 p.m. start.
- Last season, the Terriers claimed an 8-0 (6) win and 1-1 tie at home that was unable to go extra innings due to darkness.
