The No. 8 Boston University men's ice hockey team will aim for a third straight trip to the Frozen Four when it takes on No. 16 Cornell in the NCAA regional final on Saturday in Toledo, Ohio. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Thursday's game between the No. 2 and No. 4 seeds in the regional will be televised live on ESPNU and streamed on ESPN+, with fans in Canada able to watch on TSN+. In addition, an audio-only broadcast will be located here.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is making its 40th NCAA tournament appearance (25 in last 35 tournaments), which ranks third all-time (Minnesota has 42 and Michigan has 41).
- The Terriers have advanced to the Frozen Four in each of the last two years.
- The Terriers are playing in their sixth regional final in the past 10 tournaments, which is third behind Denver (7) and Minnesota Duluth (7).
- BU enters Saturday's game with an all-time record of 48-40-0 (.545) in NCAA tournament play.
- The Terriers own a 19-13 (.594) record in 32 all-time regional contests, including a 5-0 record over the last three seasons.
- BU posted a 8-3 win over No. 9 Ohio State in Thursday's NCAA tournament opener.
- Freshman Cole Hutson had four points (1g, 3a) while classmate Cole Eiserman notched a pair of goals.
- The two rookies were among seven different Terriers who recorded a goal in the comeback victory as the team erased three one-goal deficits and scored the final six goals of the game.
- Hutson, the Hockey East Rookie of the Year, is first among NCAA rookies in both points (44) and assists (31).
- Hutson is first among all NCAA defensemen in points (44) and is second in goals (13) and assists (31).
- Junior Quinn Hutson has a team-best 48 points (22g, 26a) and enters Saturday tied for third in the NCAA with 1.37 points per game.
- He is one of just eight skaters to have notched 20+ goals and 25+ assists this season, and he reached those two marks in the fewest amount of games (32) than the other men to accomplish that feat.
- BU enters Saturday ranked fourth in the NCAA on the power play, converting on 28.2% of its chances.
- That includes a 3-for-4 mark over the course of its three postseason games thus far.
- BU has also been sharp on the penalty kill during the second half of the season.
- Since Jan. 1, the Terriers are ranked seventh in the NCAA and first in Hockey East with an 85.7% success rate on the penalty kill.
- Freshman Mikhail Yegorov enters Saturday ranked eighth in the nation in save percentage (.929) and 14th in the NCAA in goals-against average (2.06).
HISTORY WITH CORNELL
- Saturday will be the 53rd meeting between BU and Cornell, with the Big Red ahead in the all-time series, 27-22-3.
- The teams first met on Jan. 10, 1925, on Beebe Lake in Ithaca, with the Terriers posting a 7-2 win.
- They played again at the same location a little over a year later (a 1-0 BU win) and did not play again until an 8-1 Cornell win on March 11, 1966, in the ECAC Tournament.
- They have faced off in the NCAA tournament on four occasions with the first two being the 1967 and 1972 national title games, won by the Big Red (4-1) and Terriers (4-0), respectively.
- BU bested the Big Red, 2-1, in a 2023 NCAA regional final in Manchester, N.H.
- As members of the ECAC, the teams met at least once a year for the next 19 years until BU joined Hockey East for the 1984-85 season.
- The Terriers are 10-8-2 in the 20 meetings that have taken place since they moved to Hockey East.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
- Cornell improved to 19-10-6 with its thrilling win over No. 1 Michigan State.
- The Big Red had to play its way into the tournament, winning the ECAC title in head coach Mike Schafer's 30th and final season at Cornell.
- Sophomore Ryan Walsh leads Cornell in goals (16) and points (30) and is tied with seniors Sullivan Mack and Tim Rego for the team lead in assists (14).
- Walsh scored two goals in Thursday's win, including an equalizer at 12:38 of the third before Mack scored on the power play with 10 seconds remaining in regulation.
- Senior goaltender Ian Shane made 34 saves against the Spartans.
- He has started all 33 of his appearances, posting a .903 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average.

- The winner of the BU-Cornell game will advance to the Frozen Four in St. Louis and will face the winner of the NCAA Allentown Regional that includes Maine, UConn, Quinnipiac and Penn State.
