The No. 10/9 Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its 103rd season on Thursday when the Terriers host No. 6 Providence in the final home game of the regular season Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
BU will honor its Class of 2025 prior to the game. It is a group that has helped the Terriers win 94 games over the last four seasons, including two Beanpot championships, the 2023 Hockey East regular-season and tournament titles, and the 2024 Friendship Four. TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU needs just one point to earn a home game in the Hockey East quarterfinal round, having already secured a top-five finish in the league.
- The Terriers can also clinch that home game on March 15 if UConn drops a point to Vermont on Thursday night.
- With two points on Thursday, BU will be locked in as the No. 3 seed.
- Thursday's game will also have PairWise implications, as BU enters the night one spot back of No. 6 Providence.
- The Terriers have not played since earning a 2-2 tie and a shootout win at then-No. 9 UConn on Feb. 25.
- Freshmen Sascha Boumedienne and Cole Hutson both lit the lamp in regulation to erase one-goal deficits.
- Hutson was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month on Tuesday after leading all NCAA rookies in goals (5) and all NCAA defensemen in goals and points (11) during February.
- Hutson leads all rookie defensemen as well as all Hockey East blue liners, regardless of class, in goals (10), assists (23) and points (33).
- Junior Quinn Hutson enters Thursday on a five-game point streak (2g, 4a) and has notched a point in eight of his last nine games, totaling 13 points (6g, 7a) in that stretch.
- Quinn has exceeded last year's career-best point total of 36 thanks to a team-leading 18 goals to go along with a career-high 21 assists.
- In five fixtures against top-10 teams, freshman Mikhail Yegorov owns a 1.71 goals-against average and a .945 save percentage.
- That includes a shutout of Providence on Feb. 15.
SERIES HISTORY
- Thursday will be the 200th meeting between BU and Providence in a series that started during the 1926-27 season.
- The Terriers lead the series, 119-60-20 (.648).
