BOSTON – Competing in its final non-conference multi-team event, the Boston University softball team will face four teams as part of the three-day Winthrop Eagle Classic.
The Terriers will start off Friday at 10 a.m. against Presbyterian followed by the first of two matchups against Western Carolina with a 3 p.m. start time. For Saturday, BU will meet Western Carolina a second time at 3 p.m. and the host Eagles at 5:30 p.m. followed by Sunday's contest against Queens at 10 a.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU enters the contest on a five-game losing streak that includes one-run losses to Brown (8-7) and Fordham (1-0) with the last win coming against UNLV (8-0) at the University of South Carolina.
- The Terriers are 2-5 in true road games with two wins over Florida Gulf Coast (8-0, 6-4) alongside a 6-2 mark in neutral contests.
- Freshman Biz Baglieri leads BU at .290 with six RBIs, while sophomore Kylie Doherty (.282) owns a team-high three homers and 17 RBIs. Junior Brooke Deppiesse (.275) is second on the team at eight RBIs.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Presbyterian, 10-9 (Friday, 10 a.m.)
- Members of the Big South conference, the Blue Hose are coming off Tuesday's home doubleheader split against Western Carolina (9-1, 3-5). They are 3-1 against New England squads with two wins over Maine (6-5, 3-2) followed by a split against Rhode Island (11-1, 6-7).
- Kasey Wolfe is one of five batting above .300 with a team-high .463 alongside six doubles, two homers and 15 RBIs. Both Mallory Fletcher (.393) and Kendall Owens (.346) also own six doubles apiece alongside five combined homers and 26 RBIs.
- Three pitchers have earned at least three starts with Peyton Duncan (6-3, 2.43 ERA) leading the Blue Hose with 37 strikeouts in 54.2 innings of work.
- Overall, Presybterian is batting .297 and holding opponents to .275 with a 15-5 advantage in homers.
- Friday's contest marks the first ever meeting between the two programs.
Western Carolina, 8-10 (Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m.)
- Besides owning a 2-1 mark against Presbyterian, WCU has two victories over Rhode Island (13-1, 3-0) along with a split vs. Jacksonville (5-1, 0-8).
- Lily Bell leads the Catamounts batting .472 with three doubles and eight stolen bases, while Maya McPherson (.283) owns a team-high 20 RBIs alongside two homers and three doubles.
- AG Batson (3-4, 2.89 ERA) and Amanda Fulton (4-1, 3.22 ERA) have combined for three shutouts with Fulton totaling 40 strikeouts over 41.1 innings of work.
- WCU is batting .272 and holding opponents to .278with opponents earning an 11-7 advantage in triples.
