BOSTON – Riding a 10-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will visit Providence Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. start time.
The Terriers most recently earned a sweep at home against Colgate in Patriot League play, while the Friars went 0-3 at St. John's in a Big East series over the weekend.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 9-6 in true road games with series sweep at Bucknell that included a 15-inning marathon win (14-7) and a doubleheader sweep at Merrimack (8-0, 7-0).
- Nine Terriers have earned at least one triple with junior Brooke Deppiesse leading BU at six while hitting a team-high .434 alongside 36 runs scored and 27 RBIs.
- Both Deppiesse and sophomore Libby Walsh (.344) have earned PL Player of the Week honors with Walsh earning the award on Monday thanks to batting .615 over five wins.
- Sophomore Kylie Doherty (.350) owns a team-high eight homers and 32 RBIs, while senior Sydney Pecoraro is hitting .409.
- Junior Kasey Ricard (14-6, 2.00 ERA) went 3-0 in the circle to earn her second PL Pitcher of the Week award this season and 12th overall. She owns 137 strikeouts in 136.1 innings while holding opponents to .220.
- Freshmen Danika Nell (4-1, 3.44 ERA) and Ava Johnson (3-1, 2.86 ERA) have earned two shutouts apiece.
- The Terriers are batting .305 and holding opponents to .227 with a 20-12 advantage in homers and 20-4 lead in triples.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
- The Friars are 6-5 at home with 7-4 win over Boston College alongside DH splits against both Yale (4-8, 7-3) and Rhode Island (10-1, 4-5).
- Providence has four batters hitting above .300 with Cameron Dunn leading the way at .395 with five doubles, seven homers, 18 runs and 28 RBIs.
- Both Elisa Smith (.370) and Emma Eichten (.344) earned five doubles apiece alongside Dunn with Smith also recording five triples.
- Four pitchers have pitched between 30 and 64 innings with Tori Grifone (5-7, 4.38 ERA) totaling 41 strikeouts in 64.0 innings. Jessica Walter (2-0, 3.00 ERA) is holding opponents to .244 batting average.
- Overall, Providence is batting .281 and holding opponents to .286 with a 63-28 deficit in stolen bases.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series dating back to 1988, 26-16-2, after posting a 2-0-1 record at home last season with a 1-1 draw preceded by a 5-3 win on April 9 and 8-0 (6) victory on April 23.
