BOSTON – With one week remaining in the regular season, the Boston University softball team will start off the final homestand against Bryant in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The Terriers are coming off a 1-2 weekend performance at Lehigh, while the Bulldogs earned a doubleheader sweep over UAlbany.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 9-4 at home this season with a perfect 5-0 record against non-conference opponents. The Terriers most recently blanked Harvard (2-0) a week ago following doubleheader sweeps over Yale (8-2, 8-0) and Stonehill (10-2, 8-0).
- Junior Brooke Deppiesse ranks 50th nationally with a .431 batting average and 36th in runs scored (52) while adding a team-high 13 doubles. She's added 21 walks to post a .511 on-base percentage.
- Sophomore Kylie Doherty is second on the team batting .369 with 42 RBIs and 50 runs scored alongside 12 homers, just two shy of the program record set back in 2007.
- Junior Megan Coyle (.329) leads BU with 49 RBIs, six shy of tying the program record and seven away from the Patriot League record.
- In the circle, junior Kasey Ricard (21-10, 2.11) has worked an NCAA high 205.2 innings, totaling 194 strikeouts against 47 walks.
- Ricard has earned four solo shutouts, one more than both freshman Danika Nell (5-1, 3.84 ERA) and freshman Ava Johnson (4-3, 3.25 ERA).
- The Terriers are 2-8 this season in contests decided by one run and are 27-4 when out-hitting opponents. BU is also 25-2 when holding teams to 0-2 runs and 6-15 if allowing at least three runs.
- Overall, BU is batting .309 and keeping teams to .247 with a 28-23 advantage in homers and 56-52 edge in doubles.
SCOUTING BRYANT
- The Bulldogs are 4-8 in true road games with wins at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (4-2), Towson (10-6), Bethune-Cookman (5-3) and UMBC (13-5). Like the Terriers, they also dropped one-run decisions at Providence (5-4) and Brown (7-6).
- Meaghan Houk is one of four Bulldogs batting at least .300 with a team-high .378 average alongside four homers, seven doubles and four homers.
- Sam Rohwer (.342) has posted seven homers and 34 RBIs, while Makenna Coleman (.300) has collected six homers and 25 RBIs.
- In the circle, five Bulldogs have made at least five starts with Maddy Wachter (6-6, 3.67 ERA) collecting 46 strikeouts in 76.1 innings and Lexi Powell (3-5, 5.39 ERA) owning 31 strikeouts in 61.0 innings.
- Bryant is batting .275 and holding opponents to .312 with teams edging the Bulldogs in stolen bases, 69-66.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 8-4, after earning a 10-1 (5) win in 2018 at the University of Hartford.
- The Terriers are 2-3 at home with Bryant winning the last three meetings in 2017 (4-2), 2013 (4-3) and 2012 (3-2).
LOOKING AHEAD
- BU will wrap the regular season by hosting Lafayette in a three-game series with Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's finale set for 12 p.m.
- Prior to Sunday's first pitch, BU will honor seniors Tyesha Williams and Sydney Pecoraro.
- The Terriers are 31-0 all-time in the series after sweeping the Leopards on the road last year by a combined score of 28-1.
