TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU improved to 2-0 in the Patriot League with a thrilling 14-13 overtime win at Lehigh on Saturday.
- Sophomore Timothy Shannehan forced overtime with 2.7 seconds remaining in regulation and junior Tyler Fox scored just 23 seconds into the extra frame to lift BU a thrilling 14-13 win at Lehigh on Saturday.
- BU trailed, 10-7, entering the fourth quarter and faced a three-goal deficit late in the fourth before scoring four straight goals to take a 12-11 lead with 2:17 to play.
- Lehigh eventually took a 13-12 lead with 15.4 seconds to play, but sophomore Madden Murphy won the ensuing faceoff back to Fox, who got the ball to Shannehan, who came around the cage and his diving effort beat Kasey Heath (16 saves) for the equalizer.
- Murphy, who won a career-best 20 of the 27 draws he took and collected a career-high seven ground balls, won the opening draw in OT that led to the winner.
- He was named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week and was also named to the New England Team of the Week for his efforts.
- Shannehan scored a career-high six goals and added an assist to complete a seven-point afternoon en route to being chosen as PL Offensive Player of the Week; he also earned a spot on the USILA Team of the Week.
- Shannehan needs just five points to reach 100 for his career; he'd tie Vince D'Alto for the fewest games needed to collect 100 points as a Terrier.
- The Fairfield, Conn., native is averaging 5.67 points per game, which is fourth in the nation and first in the Patriot League, and is also tied for seventh in the NCAA and is second in the PL in assists per game (2.50).
- Senior Connor Kehm leads the Terriers with 33 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
- He is tied for second in the NCAA among non-faceoff specialists with 5.50 ground balls per game.
- The Terriers are first in the nation on the ride through six games, holding opponents to a .669 clearing percentage.
- BU also leads the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (14.33) and is sixth in the country in ground balls per game (37.50).
- The Terriers are 3-0 at Nickerson Field this season.
- They have averaged 17.0 goals per game in those three wins and have allowed just 7.33 goals per game.
HISTORY AGAINST THE BLACK KNIGHTS
- BU has improved to 7-8 all-time against Army West Point thanks to a five-game win streak that began with a victory in the 2022 Patriot League title game.
- Three of the last four games have been one-goal affairs, including back-to-back OT wins in West Point.
- BU bested then-No. 2 Army, 10-9, in overtime last March and also defeated the host Black Knights, 11-10, in overtime of the 2024 PL semifinals.
- The Terriers last hosted Army on March 22, 2024, and earned a 14-9 victory over the then-No. 1 Black Knights, which was the first-ever win over a top-ranked foe in program history.
- BU handed Army its first loss in 2024 and 2025.
SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
- The Black Knights began the season 6-0 before falling at Lafayette, 10-9, on March 6.
- Senior midfielder Evan Plunkett leads Army with 23 points thanks to seven goals and a team-best 16 assists.
- Sophomore Brayden Fountain paces Army with 17 goals, followed closely by senior Gunnar Fellows and sophomore Hill Plunkett.
- Junior Robert Simone is 62-of-118 (.525) at the faceoff X this season and leads Army with 31 ground balls.
- Senior John Sullivan paces the Black Knights with 12 caused turnovers.
- Army boasts the fourth-ranked scoring defense in the country (8.00 GA/G) thanks in part to senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne.
- Byrne ranks second in the NCAA in save percentage (.620) and fifth in the nation in goals-against average (7.81).
