Terriers to Trek to Holy Cross Friday for Regular-Season Finale

The Boston University men's lacrosse team will play its final regular-season game of the season on Friday night when the Terriers travel to Holy Cross. Opening faceoff is set for 6 p.m, with the winner earning a point in the Turnpike Trophy standings.
WHAT'S AT STAKE?
- BU enters Friday tied atop the league standings with Army West Point and Loyola Maryland.
- To earn the top seed, BU needs to defeat Holy Cross and Loyola needs to lose to Navy.
- To be assured a bye into the semifinals, the Terriers must win and have either Army lose to Colgate or Loyola lose to Navy.
- If BU loses or if BU, Army and Loyola all win, the Terriers will be the No. 3 seed and host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday night at Nickerson.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU celebrated Senior Day with a dominant 13-2 win over Lafayette on Saturday at NIckerson Field.
- For the second straight week, graduate student Michael Allieri was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week and earned a spot on the USILA Team of the Week.
- He made a season-high 12 saves in his first-ever start as a Terrier, allowing only one 6-on-6 goal, as the other marker was a flukey goalie goal in the third quarter.
- Allieri has made 23 saves and allowed just five goals over his last 85:22 of work.
- Sophomore Timothy Shannehan enters the weekend as the nation's leader in points per game, averaging 5.33 points across his 12 starts this season.
- He is the only player with 30+ goals and 30+ assists this season, as he has scored 33 goals and added 31 assists for 64 points, a point total that is fourth-best in the NCAA.
- Shannehan is also eighth in the country and first in the PL in assists per game (2.58).
- Senior Jimmy Kohr led the Terriers with four goals against Lafayette and currently leads BU with 34 goals.
- Kohr has found the back of the net in 28 straight games dating back to last year and has averaged 3.6 goals per game over his last five appearances.
- Sophomore Madden Murphy continues to shine at the faceoff X and enters the weekend ranked first in the Patriot League and 17th in the nation with a .594 faceoff win percentage.
- He is also 17th in the NCAA and first in the PL in ground balls per game (6.27).
- The Terriers lead the nation in opponent clear percentage (.727) and are second in the NCAA in both caused turnovers per game (12.50) and ground balls per game (37.75).
HISTORY WITH HOLY CROSS
- BU is 9-2 all-time against the Crusaders and has won eight straight games against Holy Cross dating back to the 2017 season finale, which a 12-11 overtime victory for the Terriers.
- The Terriers have outscored Holy Cross, 93-35, over the last four meetings.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
- After going 4-11 last year, Holy Cross has improved to 6-7 this season.
- The Crusaders have lost four of their last five, however, including a 15-13 defeat at Bucknell last Saturday that eliminated them from Patriot League Tournament contention.
- Sophomore Owen Tunney leads the Crusaders in goals (22), assists (26) and points (48).
- Freshman Shane McDonnell is tied with Terrier sophomore Madden Murphy for first in the PL with a .594 faceoff win percentage.
- McDonnell also paces Holy Cross with 65 ground balls.
- Senior Michael Rincon leads Holy Cross with 26 caused turnovers and is second on the squad with 47 ground balls.
- Senior goalkeeper JR Long has started all 13 games for Holy Cross, posting a .475 save percentage and an 11.61 goals-against average.
