Jimmie Oakman was promoted to Director of Basketball Operations in the fall of 2015 by head coach Joe Jones after spending the previous year as special assistant and director of advanced scouting.
In his previous role, Oakman oversaw all aspects of the video editing systems while also creating scouting reports, highlight films and playbooks. He served as the point contact for the summer camps and executed community service initiatives by working with the Boston Scholar Athletes program and serving on the Executive Committee for Coaches vs. Cancer.
"Jimmie has proven in a very short time to be a valuable member of our staff," said Jones at the time of the announcement of the promotion. "His work ethic, organizational skills and overall knowledge have been an asset to the program, and I'm pleased to have the opportunity to promote him."
Prior to joining Jones’ staff in the summer of 2014, Oakman spent three seasons as assistant men’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, N.H. While with the Eagles, he coordinated travel arrangements as well as monitoring the team budget while also constructing individual workout plans.
The 2010 UMass graduate worked as a student assistant with the Minutemen for three years helping in all aspects of the day-to-day operations and also spent two years as an assistant coach at Amherst-Regional H.S. from 2009-11.
