Former Boston University men's tennis captain Jesse Frieder ('14) returns for his 10th season in 2023-24 as an assistant coach with the Terriers after graduating from BU's Questrom School of Business.

This past season, the Terriers reached their first conference tournament final since 1999 and earned their first major year-end Patriot League honor when Corey Craig was tabbed Rookie of the Year. Craig was also tabbed a an All-PL First Team honoree with classmate Alejandro Licea and sophomore Dion Loutas being placed on the second team.

At the end of the 2018-19 season, BU reached the PL semifinals for the third straight season and fifth time in six years. David Bogatin, Owen Lu and Pete Siozios all received a spot on the All-Conference list for their efforts. The announcement represented the first time since 2011 and third time overall in the 21st century that three Terriers were recognized by a conference with the other occurrence taking place in 2007. The trio followed up at the 2019 ITA Northeast Regionals by combining for a program-record eight singles wins.

In 2018 as a team, the Terriers collected 14 wins, their most for the program in over a decade, with four individuals earning 20+ singles wins apiece. In 2015, BU advanced to the Patriot League semifinals after snapping Lehigh's five-year streak of reaching the semis. Both William Kwok and Jay Leelavanich received All-Conference honors. BU returned to the semifinals in 2017 with both Lucas Bombonatti and Satyajit Simhadri earning All-Conference accolades as well.

As a student-athlete, Frieder played singles in the top three slots and also was a key contributor in doubles. During his senior year in 2013-14, he posted a combined eight wins at No. 2 and 3 singles to help BU reach the Patriot League semifinals.

Before attending BU, Frieder earned All-State First Team honors three times and was the state champion his final year.
