Trevor Dunbar joined the Boston University track & field and cross country programs as a volunteer assistant coach prior to the 2018-19 season.

Dunbar arrives in Boston after two years of volunteer experience at the University of Oregon, his alma mater. At Oregon, Dunbar learned under the tutelage of Andy Powell, and helped oversee the development of 17-time NCAA champion Edward Cheserek, among others.

As an athlete, Dunbar was a seven-time All-American and a member of two NCAA national championship teams. Post-collegiately, he has competed in four USATF outdoor championships in the 5000m run, finishing as high as sixth in 2014. In 2017, he represented Team USA at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Kampala, Uganda. Dunbar is the only Alaskan to be a sub-four minute miler, with his personal-best time at 3:55.

Dunbar currently resides in Cambridge and trains with the professional team BAA.
