SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore John DaCruz (Ludlow, Mass.) started the dual meet at 197 with a pin 1:03 into his match, setting the stage for Boston University wrestling's 37-6 victory over Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

B.U. (2-2, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) won the first six matches, racing to a 28-0 lead. Senior heavyweight Courtney Howard (Sitka, Alaska) followed DaCruz's pin with one of his own to stake the Terriers to a 12-0 lead.

Junior Mike Galorenzo (Oradell, N.J.) earned a 14-5 major decision at 125 and sophomore Brett Frimer defeated his opponent, 6-4, at 133 to push the Terrier advantage to 19-0.

After a forfeit victory at 141, senior Rayes Gonzales (Las Vegas, Nev.) bested Springfield's Mark DeCiccio, 14-8, at 149 to give B.U. its largest lead at 28-0.

The Pride's Jake Tyler ended the Springfield drought with a 12-10 overtime decision over junior Justin Blumenthal (Madison, Wis.) at 157. Junior Zach Johns (Owings Mills, Md.) needed only 1:43 to earn a fall at 165. Springfield got its second win at 174, as Brian Viglione earned a 9-5 victory over senior Warren Haines (Alexandria, Va.). Junior Tom Sforza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished the meet with a 5-1 victory at 184.

The Terriers next wrestling at the CAA Duals beginning Friday, Jan. 21 in Fairfax, Va.
