The Boston University men's tennis team opened the 2007-08 season with a sweep of America East opponent Hartford on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Every Terrier won in straight sets, with sophomore Jeff Chudacoff (Highland Park, Ill.) winning, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.
BU lost only 11 total games en route to earning Tim Lipsky's first career win as a head coach. Chudacoff, who notched the Terriers' best singles record in 2007 of this year's returners, started 2008 on a good note. He broke Hartford's Tim Glickman in each of Glickman's service games for the victory and then did not lose a game in his doubles match. Sophomore Armir Mehmeti played in the No. 2 slot and won his first collegiate match, 6-1, 6-1, over Will White after red-shirting his freshman season.
Junior Miron Nissim (Milan, Italy), senior Giulio Galloratti (Higganum, Conn.), junior Charles Weinstein (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and junior Tim Sichler (Los Lunas, N.M.) each recorded a 6-0 set in their wins.
In doubles action, the BU teams dropped just three games between them, with Chudacoff and Galloratti teaming up to defeat Ed Hoey and Aaron Kooden 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The Terriers next travel up the B Line to Boston College to play the Eagles at 4:30 on Friday, Oct. 5.
