HANOVER, N.H. - Boston University's men's tennis team lost for the first time in five matches, losing to Dartmouth College, 7-0, on Sat., March 3 at the Allie Boss Tennis Center. The defeat drops the Terriers to 6-4 on the season.
Without two of its top four players, BU could not overcome a strong Dartmouth team. After losing the doubles matches, the Terriers were unable to win key points in singles play. The missed opportunities were a decisive factor in Dartmouth's sweep of the Terriers. At first singles, Dartmouth's Dave Weslen defeated BU senior
Barrett Wolf, 6-2, 6-3. The loss is Wolf's second on the year. Sophomores
Charles Weinstein and
Miron Nissim also had close matches, but each succumbed in second and third singles, respectively.
"Dartmouth is a good team, no doubt," coach Rocky Jarvis said. "But for only our second time on hard courts, I feel good about the effort that we gave. There are a lot of positive things to take away from this match and build on as we move into the final stretch of our season."
The Terriers are off until their spring break trip, when they travel to California to play three matches. Their first match is against Point Loma Nazarene on Tue., March 13, in San Diego.
