BOSTON -
Boston University men's crew's late push fell short as Northeastern defeated the Terriers to take the Arlett Cup Saturday morning on the Charles River. The Huskies crossed the line in 6:01.36 to BU's 6:08.80.
Northeastern reclaimed the cup after the Terriers earned it in 2007. After an even start, NU nosed out to a 1/3 length lead at 500m and moved out to a length at 1000m. BU struggled in the middle of the race but picked it up at nearing the end.
The Huskies took all four races on the day. In the 2V/3V eight race, Northeastern got off to an early start and had a small open water lead by 500m. The two BU boats fought for second, with the JV finishing just ahead of the 3V.
In a freshman eight, NU won by a margin of 18 seconds, and in the fours, the Huskies got off to a good start and held off BU's recently formed 2F/3V.
Next up for the Terriers is the Bill Cup against Dartmouth and Rutgers on Saturday, April 19.
