Men's Tennis Drops Spring Opener against Davidson, 7-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Boston University men's tennis team opened the spring portion of the 2008-09 schedule by falling to Davidson, 7-0, on the campus of Brown University. With the loss, the Terriers drop to 1-2, while the Wildcats improve to 1-0 after their first dual match of the season.

Davidson swept the singles matches and won two of the three doubles matches, though BU had a match point in the No. 1 doubles match before losing the point.

In doubles, Tim Sichler and Bill Kring dropped an 8-3 decision to Eric Noble and Calum Gee, but James Bernstein and Alessio Gallarotti followed by defeating Brandon Byrd and Carter Braxton, 9-8 (7-2), in the No. 3 match, to even the series. For the all-important doubles point, Jeff Chudacoff and Charles Weinstein held a match point against Walker Lyons and Scott Myers but eventually fell, 9-7.

In singles, Chudacoff won the most games for the Terriers though dropped both sets, 6-3, 6-3, to Walker Lyons in the No. 1 match. Sichler came closet to winning a set in the No. 3 contest against Myers, losing 6-4, 6-0.
