BOSTON - The Boston University wrestling team wrapped up its opening weekend with a trio of duals on Saturday, posting decisive wins over Bridgewater State (37-9) and Southern Maine (48-0) before falling to Bloomsburg, 31-3. The Terriers now stand at 2-2 on the season.
Junior Fred Santaite won all three of his matches at 133 - including two pins - to improve to 4-0 on the season. Freshmen Nick Tourville (157) and Kevin Innis (285) each earned the first two wins of their collegiate careers while redshirt freshman Ian Squires (141) and sophomore Nestor Taffur (149) also collected two victories on the day. Both of Taffur's wins came via first-period falls.
Freshman Mike Wrin (174) and Bubba McKinley (125) each registered their first win at BU by topping their respective opponents from Southern Maine and sophomore Kyle Czarnecki (165) posted a tech fall in the Southern Maine dual.
Junior John Hall picked up a pin in against Bridgewater State's Andrew Frazer at 197 right after Bran Crudden, a transfer from Brown, earned his first BU win at 184.
The Terriers will return to action on Thursday (Nov. 11) when they travel to face No. 25 Iowa State for a 7 p.m. dual before staying to compete in the Cyclone Open on Saturday (Nov. 13).
